| property taxes? This is absurd. |
| You’re right, only property owners should vote. /s |
+1. Why has nobody thought of this before? |
|
Because they are members of the community.
Let's not assume renters are transient and don't care about their neighborhoods. |
You're right, we should go back to only allowing people to vote if they are white men over 21 who own land. It was good enough for the Founding Fathers, and it's good enough for me! |
| I lived in the same house for 8 years as a renter. That's longer than some neighbors who owned. |
|
Because we are all citizens, property owners or not.
Imbuing property owners with the ability to decide for everyone else means that no one else will become property owners. Why would they dilute their own power? Democracy isn't, or at least shouldn't be, pay to play. |
This, of course. Duh. |
| I would more annoyed at the 25yr old kids who live in their parent's basement voting versus renters. |
|
Yep, when my tenant pays rent I just keep it all for myself for Starbucks and avocado toast.
I have a whole separate pool of money that I use to pay property taxes on the property that I rent out. Therefore I am paying taxes and my tenant is not, and should have no say in local public affairs. |
Not sure that you have to worry too much about them voting. |
|
Why do old people get to vote? They'll be dead by the time any development allowed by Thrive is implemented.
We have a lower age limit on voting. What about an upper age limit? |
| Nobody should be allowed to vote except me and people who agree with me!!! |
Well, I guess that it might be fair to give up representation as long as they also get to give up their taxation. |
Renters pay taxes. |
