One of my neighbors sold their house 1.5 years ago and are now zoned for another FCPS school. Their sophomore kid is still attending Oakton high. Is this somehow allowed or are they manipulating the system….wwyd? |
Why would you do anything? Why is it your business? |
I would mind my own business and be thankful that I’m likely not in the same situation at this family, because there’s probably a very good reason why their child has got an exception to stay in the school. |
I'd say this isn't totally out of the ordinary with older families around here. I know of a couple cases where parents use the grandparents' address to attend a different school because the parents couldn't afford to purchase a home within the boundary. |
Myob. |
I see a lot of Maryland plates in the kiss n ride. Im not sure what they can do to enforce it. |
Anonymous note to the school secretary ought to do the trick if the school wants to do anything about it. If they don't for some reason then they will just look the other way. |
Wow, you're petty af. Mind your business, Karen. |
that could be tax fraud with the car and not boundary fraud. I have seen people register their cars with relatives in Maryland to avoid Virginia’s car tax. |
they may have wrangled a transfer |
No one’s going to drive from Maryland to go to… Oakton! Maybe some other high school but certainly not Oakton! 😂 It’s likely someone who never changed their Maryland plates or a nanny. |
If the new house is in boundary for FCPS then why do you care? You have no idea if the student pupil placed for a program or if the school OKed it or if they are grandfathered in. They still pay Fairfax County taxes so it really doesn't matter.
The real issue is non residents attending. |
FCPS students should be allowed to attend any FCPS school if space is available. After all, my property taxes pay for all FCPS schools, and aren’t earmarked for only my neighborhood school. If my neighborhood school offers fewer opportunities, do I get a tax break? No. |
Jesus, you posted two separate threads about this? |
I would mind my own business. Geez, you sound awful. |
