On the other hand there is a maximum quota per school, that makes the at large spots easier to get from other schools that don't have lots of qualified candidates.

Within top Loudoun schools like Stone Hill, AOS is harder than TJ.

I’ve seen who has been admitted from our school, they are smart no doubt but you are way overdramatizing it. You just happen to go to a school with way too many applicants. Also, the families I talk to who actually sent their kids their day their kid is a giant stress box with way too much homework. So, be careful what you wish for.

Look at the numbers. A lower percentage of applicants from our HS got into AOS than TJ.
