My DD got actual physical mail notification yesterday.
3.88 weighted, 1150 SAT (not sure if she submitted or not). Looked it up at PSU was more competitive than I was expecting. It’s good to have the first acceptance in hand. Not sure we can afford out of state tuition, but I think they may discount a little for surrounding states? Waiting on VT, JMU and CNU plus a few others. Anyone have any experience with financial aid at Penn State? |
It's extremely limited |
I am not quite sure about the financial aid, but congratulations Penn State is a fabulous school! |

Very little (if any) merit for OOS students.
Small price break if attending a non-UP campus. https://admissions.psu.edu/costs-aid/scholarships/ |
| Penn State does not discount to surrounding states. |
| This gives me so much hope for my kid who has similar stats. Congrats! |
Can you give more info such as major, race etc this seems like false hope for a lot of |
I think she submitted as a sociology major or maybe psychology. She’s just a basic white girl. I remember getting some flyer when my oldest was applying that talked about a discount for Virginia students. But maybe it was for that satellite campus thing. This is it I think… https://admissions.psu.edu/costs-aid/scholarships/discover/ |

None for instate or OOS. |
My DD has the same stats - 3.8 w and an 1150 SAT and was denied University Park but accepted at Altoona. Penn State does not superscore. I think my DD may have had a better chance for UP if she went test/optional. Was accepted at JMU and is waiting on Pitt. She does not want to go to PSU Altoona. |
Congrats! I bet she went TO. That score is really low to get into University Park. Not low for the 2+2 program starting at a satellite campus. |

Not financial aid.
However dorms with 5 to a room and in study halls or lounges 8 boys to a spot. No thanks. |
| Honors college gets automatic $5k discount per year |
| Is she in at the main campus or a satellite campus? |
