Are McLean and Arlington getting worse. Alternatives to avoid riff raff?

It seems that McLean and Arlington are going down the tubes with all the homeless reports, drugs in schools, fights etc where is an alternative that is akin to the 90s McLean and North Arlington?

Clearly you didn't grow up in McLean in the 80s and 90s, if you don't remember the numerous fatal crashes from alcohol involving high school kids. Or the various homeless characters. And the smoking fights under the bleachers or in the bathrooms. Or putting firecrackers in people's mailboxes.

The "riff raff" now is actually LESS, although behind closed doors with prescription drug abuse, wino moms and dads on uppers--and this is the benign stuff.

I’ll still take the Virginia suburbs any day over DC and suburban Maryland, where the problems identified by the OP are significantly worse in both scale and community impact.

I thought Loudoun was a good option and even put a deposit down on a house there. But then I found out that they were going to build $1.5 million mansions a mile away from my $2 million mansion so I said no thank you and walked. Still looking. Let me know if you find something.
