| Do any moms out there have recommendations for delicious and attractive cakes for birthday parties? I don't need an elaborate fondant creation but a delicious, somewhat healthy, cake (meaning not Safeway/Giant). |

COSTCO.
You can even do custom decoration hack on the cake. Just ask the bakery dept to do a plain icing with no decoration on it (if you do not care for their decoration) and then do your own simple decoration. Lots of youtube videos. |
| Wegmans all the way |
| Definitely *not* Milk Bar. I made that mistake once and it was gross! |

I dont think many people are answering because you said it was supposed to be "healthy".
If you can let that go, I suggest Heidelberg or Bake Shop in Alrington. |
| Costco |
Oh no! What was gross about it? They look pretty... |

| Victoria's Cakery in Fairfax City. Out of the Bubble Bakery in Springfield. CaKe Diva (in-home) in Fairfax. Wegmans in a pinch. |

Where are you? The strawberry cake at Stella's is good. They used to also have a really good almond cake, but I don't see it on their menu now. Les Delices in Rockville also has some good ones. I think I've had their hazelnut crunch and their white chocolate mousse cake.
Other Bethesda area ones that are good are Praline, Tout de Sweet. There was a bakery in I think Mt. Ranier that was just nominated for a James Beard award, so I've been meaning to try that one. |

Definitely not. |
I don't know about their cakes but Heidelberg has a croissant donut that may be the tastiest donut I have ever eaten. Sorry to derail but thought worth sharing...

Cake Diva is great. |
Not PP but my personal experience with Milk Bar is everything is so sweet it'd inedible. If you look up her recipes she uses a lot of corn syrups and I think that's why. It's like eating Caro with a spoon. |
