Two questions:
1) The football and soccer teams seem to be doing fine without new fields. Why spend so much when you could use the $$ elsewhere? 2) Since the fields cater mostly to boys' sports (football, baseball) will an equal investment be made towards girls' sports? Was any of this brought up when the plans were drawn? |
| Is this a serious post? I'm guessing that you are not affiliated with the Maret community in any way as there is no chance that you would be so unaware of the situation(s). |
| As someone with kids at an opponent, it’s a nightmare when maret hosts home games. Think crowded soccer fields with football players tossing things during the game, etc |

This is OP and I find your comment very offensive. Yes, we are a relatively new family but I do not feel that the school has necessarily been that transparent other than to continually ask for donations for the field (which we declined) |
| Don’t like financial priorities at Maret? Move on. |
Did you bring up your concerns when plans were drawn? |
NP. You need to calm down, OP. |
Don't be fooled. OP is a Chevy Chase NIMBY that's unaffiliated with the school. Move on, Boomer. Find some other sign of progress or development in your sweet little enclave to complain about. |

The only team that will be playing there that doesn’t have a girls team is football.
I thought the following teams would play there. Correct me if I’m wrong. Why isn’t this the case when any school invests on facilities? Do you have the same question when other schools build a football field with multi sport uses? Weird. Girls soccer Boys soccer Softball Baseball Football Their website and emails have bordered on having too much info, IMO. |
| We’re a new family too, and we’ve received plenty of info about the field plans, including a glossy report a few months ago. Baffling to me how a new family would not understand what is going on and why. The field space is needed, and it will be multi-purpose. |
Do the kids ride buses? How long does it take to get there? |
Yes buses. 12-16 mins depending on traffic. We live by St Johns which is not far. |
| The neighbors are not happy and they are about to cut down 60 heritage trees before this dream even comes true. It is not 100% at this point. |
It’s already been approved. Don’t think the neighbors have much more say beyond protesting Kindergartners at 8am. The letter from the school made it very clear with what they’re doing with the trees which sounds more than reasonable. |
