This is what I was thinking as well, but her siblings were both vacationing several weeks after her alleged surgery without a care in the world. If Kate had - god forbid- been so badly abused that she was left hospitalized and needing serious abdominal surgery, I don’t think her sister and brother would be looking happy go lucky each on vacations several weeks later. Her brother posted about taking his infant cross country skiing in the alps, and pippa was frolicking on a beach in st Barts with her family. It looks business as usual for the middletons which makes Kate’s disappearance all the more confusing.

After seeing that TikTok explaining that the pic was probably from November 2023 (the same day Kate and the kids attended an event at a baby bank) and that the photo shopping included changing some colors on everyone's outfits to obscure the fact that it was from the same day, I think that the real problem here is not that the photo was retouched but that it was manipulated to make it appear to be a new photo, and was posted with a "2024" caption, and this was viewed as intentionally misleading, which is why the news agencies pulled it.

It also explains why the most glaring Photoshop errors are where they are. The area around Charlotte's waist looks weird because they altered her skirt to make it plaid. The area around Kate's neck looks weird because they altered her sweater to make it black.

So if the palace released an unedited photo, it would make it very obvious that the clothing was changed to throw people off the fact that it was a photo from 4 months ago, when they were trying to pass it off as a current photo to quell rumors about Kate's whereabouts and well being.

I don't even care that they used an old photo, btw, nor do I think anyone is an owed a current "proof of life" photo. But I do find it weird and concerning that the palace apparently felt compelled to provide a current photo and was unable to do so, so instead posted an old photo and doctored it to try and make it look more recent. Why??

This is the only “why” I’m interested in. What are they hiding?

If the photo really was edited by Kate, and the reason is that she didn't feel comfortable being photographed right now but felt pressure to produce a more recent photo, it's just a PR flub but human and understandable.

If the photo was selected by Williams team or KP, and was produced without Kate's involvement with the express purpose of trucking people into thinking all is well with the Wales's when it isn't, that very sketchy.

The truth might be somewhere in between, but that's the spectrum for me. I truly don't know what to think.
