Other clubs are leveling up. The gap is getting closer. Those 5+ goal victories turn into 1 to 2 goal victories. Upsets will be more common.
The PP asked why. That would mean what are the reasons? All you have is conclusions.

PP wants reasons why other clubs have gotten better?
Probably the reasons why you thinnk they've gotten better. Something like "I spent the last month of the summer traveling the country to watch off season workouts of the top 10 rising 7th grade teams."

Maybe some clubs do that. Heroes, MDU & BLC picked up players that will make them better from non M&D clubs. Behind the cage suggests other NY teams did the same. M&D probably got better but the other teams improved at a higher rate. It’s math at that point. If M&D got 5% better and other teams 10% better, they are closing the gap. At this age, other clubs start more intense training on par with M&D and that closes the gap. There’s still a gap but by HS they may lose some games against clubs they used to beat.
So you don't know really who got what, and you're just spitballing. Then just say that.

why ruin the element of surprise

For a DC based forum, these teams have been quiet.

For this age group only BLC and YJ are very good as far as DC based

I can't say this enough as a 2026 parent: make sure your kid is working on speed. Speed can elevate a mediocre lax player. My players off-ball movement and speed she was told by coaches caught their eye. She did most of the speed training on her own at the track near our house, following some YouTube videos on how to increase speed.

Thanks. This validates other advice we’ve received. Which YouTube videos?

Call be a skeptic, you can always increase speed through agility, and speed work, but you aren't going to make a slow kid fast or a avg kid above avg speed. Its genetic, plain and simple.

+1 to speed. It's what truly separates the great from the elite. Coaches want to see players be able to get separation.

When a club used to post their rosters then suddenly decide not to post them anymore, it's safe to assume things aren't going well.

Believe it or not, both MC Elite and Pride still have teams. I wish them well.

We only went to the recruiting event and enjoyed it. There were probably 80 or so girls there. Saw coaches from GC, PVI, Spalding, McD, GF, RPCS, JC, and 1 or 2 others. There were stations and then scrimmaging and the coaches stayed after to chat as well.

the sixes tournament was a little bit of a mess. some of the referees did not read the rules so the rules for each field were different. some let you have 6 field players, others 5. despite that it was still a fun event
