Nope, sorry.

The Twitter files is a damning example of government squelching free speech.

Yes, the Trump administration was attempting to squelch free speech.

You haven't been paying attention.
Or, you are gaslighting.
Typical.

LOL! Taibbi has stopped using Twitter himself because he can't link to his own articles:

The Trump administration asked Twitter to take down Chrissy Teigen’s tweet calling Trump a pu**y a** b!|ch. Perhaps it is you who is not paying attention?

The defender of free speech wouldn't criticize Elon for helping Modi engage in censorship, but the second it affected his own pocketbook he's gone. Tells you all you need to know about Taibbi.

Who said he was the victim of identity theft?
Why the personal visit? Not a phone call. Not a letter. A personal UNANNOUNCED visit.
And, you naively think that the IRS is not weaponized. LOL.

Something like that would be pretty easy to fake. I'll believe it when I hear it from a more credible source than Taibbi.

You just cannot admit that our government has been weaponized under Biden.
It is ironic that you consider Taibbi not credible. He is an award winning liberal journalist. Maybe it is because he happens to be highly ethical that you are bothered by him.

Taibbi won all sorts of awards exposing the financial crisis and was one of the most trenchant critics of the Iraq War. He has more liberal bonafides than everyone in this thread, but these people don’t like him because he isn’t a spineless partisan sycophant. We’re in DC, where having a moral and ethical compass that doesn’t bend with the whims of what either party’s leadership dictates is scene as a negative, so I’m not surprised these people hate Taibbi.

People lost faith in Taibbi years ago. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/10/what-happened-to-matt-taibbi.html

Do you have reading comprehension issues? Serious question. Per the article, Taibbi formed a podcast with a socialist, Katie Halper, and is a mutual admirer of one of the foremost Black socialist intellectuals in the country, Adolf Reed of UPenn. In what world, other than the bizarro world DC echo chamber where neoconservatives make up the back bone of the Democrat party friendly media on MSNBC (Joe Scarborough and Nicole Wallace to name a few), does this make someone a Republican?

Because he made a factual mistake in an article? If you cast aside every journalist who made a mistake in an article you wouldn’t have anyone to read. Taibbi is clearly being marked out because he isn’t towing the party line on this story. He’s an independent voice, not a party stooge, so he must be stopped. Just like MSNBC tried to slander and kneecap Bernie in 2016 and 2020.

Wow, just wow. How could this guy go on this long, through multiple articles and then congressional testimony, basing his thesis on the assumption that CISA and CIS are the same thing? It's just so sloppy that it's hard to believe it's not intentional.

And, he has since corrected it.
Which is more than I can say for some of the "preferred" media of the left.

He fixed one error, but not the many others. In fact, he doubled down on them. And even for the one he fixed, he tries to minimize it. The error was not "one tweet." It was key to his thesis and he repeated it in congressional testimony.

Would that you held MSM to this same standard. Maybe then we wouldn't need rogue independents to get the real juicy stuff.
