| Did this happen to anyone else? WHY? |
| Because they don’t have to report your scores for us news rankings. |
|
Yes -- students can attend in the fall, and live in the dorms, and take classes. Be a freshman just like every other freshman.
But the classes are in the afternoon. Slightly smaller choice of classes. It's a way to offer admission to students who would otherwise be deferred because of slightly weaker test scores or GPAs. |
They can attend in the fall but it's called spring admission? |
DD also got spring admission (I wasn't sure she'd even get that, so I think it's great)! And afternoon classes...I mean, my kid would sleep until noon every day given the option, so sounds right up her alley anyway.
|
| My son' letter also says Spring admission |
DP. Yes, it is spring admissions but they have the opportunity to sign up (first come first serve) for an on campus option in the Fall called Freshman Connections https://admissions.umd.edu/enroll/admission-decision-faqs/freshmen-connection if they accept the spring admission. |

Yes, my DD was offered spring admission. Gee, I thought her scores were pretty good. 4.68 Weighted, 3.98 1400 SAT APS with 5 's ya da da da da .
Not sure she'll go. |
+10. Congrats! |
Great stats but I think it was the SAT score. UMD may not want to include in US News stats. |
| My DS also. GPA 3.4 SAT 1550. 10 APs mostly 3s and 4s. |
| No merit money for Spring admits. |
| Soooo sketchy |
Why? Personally, I'd rather my child have the option to go at all (should they choose), and I knew that their stats were not an automatic admission for fall. |
The other option for the "spring start" (but really fall start) kids isn't denial (UMD needs the tuition), it's acceptance. This is just a shady play by UMD to game the rankings. |
