First on CNN: Classified documents found at Pence’s Indiana home

Sounds like Pence is trying to tackle the issue preemptively and get it out of the way before his presidential run. Also, the practice of taking/keeping classified documents is probably more common than we suspect.
From the article: "Pence asked his lawyer to conduct the search of his home out of an abundance of caution, and the attorney began going through four boxes stored at Pence’s house last week, finding a small number of documents with classified markings, the sources said. Pence’s lawyer immediately alerted the National Archives, the sources said. In turn, the Archives informed the Justice Department. A lawyer for Pence told CNN that the FBI requested to pick up the documents with classified markings that evening, and Pence agreed. Agents from the FBI’s field office in Indianapolis picked up the documents from Pence’s home, the lawyer said. On Monday, Pence’s legal team drove the boxes back to Washington, DC, and handed them over to the Archives to review the rest of the material for compliance with the Presidential Records Act." |
| So it’s a routine check and he cooperated just like Biden. See trumpers, THESE situations are the same. |

What's going on is this is a nothingburger (and I'm a hard Democrat).
When people are expected to work at all hours and be on the clock where ever they are, as many or all politicians are, THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE THINGS HOME THAT THEY SHOULDN'T. It happens all.the.time. At all levels of government. It just does. It sounds like Pence, like Biden, is cooperating. And UNLIKE Trump. |
|
White House, DoD, IC and others seriously need to fix their whole classification program, to keep much better track of what documents are checked out by whom, where they currently are, when they are due back, ensuring they are returned when due back, and tracking whether or not they were downgraded/declassified, by whom, when, and by what authority.
This horsecrap makes one think there are middle school libraries that do a better job of managing check-in-check-out than our federal government does. |

So now we have...
A former president who is running for president (resulting in a special counsel). A former VP and current president who is likely running for re-election (resulting in another special counsel). And a former VP who is also potentially running for president. Do we need yet another special counsel? |
Both Pence and Biden have committed a crime here and should be in jail. |
| What’s going on is that high ranking officials who travel a lot, have a lot of high-level meetings, make a lot of high-level calls, etc., are continually briefed wherever they are with background documents that include information not for the public or anyone else without a need to know, so these documents are classified but they are not nuclear launch codes or other earth-shattering materials. A lot of secret stuff is not what we know but the details of how we learned about it and how we verified it. There should be a TS cleared staffer whose job is to account for every document every day. It’s a bureaucratic problem with a bureaucratic solution. There are no reports of Biden or Pence passing classified documents around to impress random people in meetings or at dinner. Only Trump did that. |
| At this point, there's no indication this is anything other than a mistake. It is bad? Yes. Is it a crime? Probably not. Unfortunately, classified information is not handled with the care it should be in the WH and other high level executive offices. It is very different for the peons at lower levels. |
Crimes require intent and there's no evidence that either Biden or Pence had the required intent. |
| I guess this will shut up GOP RWNJs like Gym Jordan, Comer, et al! If Mr. Perfect took home a classified documents but reported it then how bad can it be? |
You are crazy. |
Right. These people are nothing but consistent. |
|
:O
What is wrong with these dumb@sses. Next one of them is going to lie about an intern and a cigar. Do they never learn? |
Trump first. |
