Help! - Infant Daycare Needed ASAP

Anonymous
My almost 1 year old son has been attending a daycare center near my husband's work since he was 6 months old. We've been considering a change for a month or so now, but I've just learned some new information that has made us want to move him asap.

I've made some initial phone calls to multiple centers and in-home daycares, and, of course, every where is full for months.

Does anyone have any recommendations for child care near (1) downtown silver spring or (2) around White Oak/Burtonsville area that definitely have immediate or near immediate openings?

Any help here is appreciated!

Contact Monday Morning Moms. They have a list of in-homes in the Silver Spring area. Also look on CareLulu. MoCo also publishes a list of accredited in-homes sorted by zip code.

Don't have any specific recommendations because I'm not in your area but would highly advise to call EVERYWHERE. We moved to a new neighborhood last summer and had a hard time finding the care. There was one daycare that had great reviews but supposedly a very long waitlist. I contacted them just in case and was amazed to hear they had a last minute cancellation that no one else on the waitlist could fill.

I'm on it! I've already called about 15 places today.

Are you only interested in centers or are you also open to in-home daycare? Infant spots are nearly impossible to find but maybe you will get lucky.

I completely missed that.

Agree with Monday morning moms. My sister in law had a great experience with them and they have a network of in home daycares to pull from

Does Monday morning moms use licensed in-home daycares? Their website doesn’t specifically state that.

Screened Providers
All of our providers in the program have had at least:
extensive interviewing with the Monday Morning Moms staff
letters of reference on file
physician certification of good health
their homes inspected for compliance with fire, health and safety standards

Yes. IIRC, they tend to have more providers further out (we are also in Silver Spring and at the time the closest-in provider with potential availability was in Wheaton) so it's good that you have some flexibility with the location. Can't hurt to give them a call.

Hi! There's a new Family daycare in Woodside Park, they just opened it! 20910 in Silver Spring, MD, near Aldi on Georgia Avenue.
Her daycare is called Universal Sprouts Family Child Care LLC.
Their email is: universalsprouts@gmail.com

I don't like that monday mom website...

I'm surprised why people don't share official websites to find childcare.

Try the Official website from Maryland to find child care. They work with the Maryland State Department of Education. They only show licensed Family Child care home(daycares) and Centers.

And the locate maryland website to find childcare always update their Family Child care homes (daycares). Once a daycare provider gets its license the Maryland network adds her daycare

I tried care. com and looked kinda sketchy. Then I was lucky I found a good Family daycare but they are full now. Try calling everywhere. Good luck

What was the info that makes you want to move him? If it's really bad, consider hiring a babysitter or temp nanny until you get him into a new daycare. When I was interviewing nannies, I found that about half were currently available. I can imagine some of them would have been willing to take a temporary job if they were offered an immediate start date.
