Salad bars are returning to schools in phases, starting at Title 1 schools. Glad to hear it. |
|
Unfortunately, this will end up being a complete waste as many kids do not like “salad.”
|
| Both of my kids loved this when they had it pre-covid - even the one who won't eat "salad". They have other things like carrot sticks, chickpeas, snap peas, and other cut up veggies that are so much better than the vegetables they offer with the hot lunch. I'm thrilled. |
| My kids both liked the salad bar, I’m happy they are coming back! |
| Salad bar was very popular at our Title I ES - glad to hear they are coming back. |
Same! |
| The salad bar was a favorite for my kids. This is excellent news! |
Same. Neither of my kids eat "salad" but they will eat some raw veggies and there was also fresh fruit and things like chicken or ham cubes and shredded cheese. My kids generally refuse to buy hot lunch but they would both get salad bar occasionally. |
| These are popular with often times long lines. |
Barely enough time to eat |
| How much does the salad bar cost? Do they weigh it? Can you get it a la cart? Ir is it considered a vegetable abd therefore you have to get it when you buy the entree? |
At my kids school, kids were not forced to take anything, but most of them did. My kids LOVED getting fresh veggies. I hope they open them at all schools soon. |
Kids can choose 3 vegetables to add to their plate. It's not an actual salad bar. |
It’s a salad bar. Our ES had one before Covid. We still have the salad bar “cart”. It seemed to be pretty popular and I thought the options were good. |
It’s a salad bar—Greens, veggies, some kind of protein, and fruit. |
