New Acura MDX

I think we are going to buy one to replace our existing one. I just can't seem to justify paying another 10-20K for a German luxury suv with the same features.

What’s the question?

We’ve had 2 MDX’s - one in 2007 and one 2014. Loved both! We moved abroad and sold the 2007, and sold the 2014 a couple of years ago. We lived in Manhattan with both, and it was a great city car and big enough for road trips with 2 toddlers and a dog. Low maintenance, easy to drive, decent gas mileage. Since we used it mostly in the city, we didn’t want handling that was too sporty. I would get another, but we went ev and won’t go back.

Acura is meh....you're paying inflated prices for the same performance as a Honda.

The prices aren’t that inflated once you add leather and memory seats to the equivalent Honda.

Actually we have had Hondas and upgraded to the Acura in 2014. We loved our Hondas, but wanted the quiet ride and luxury of the MDX and have enjoyed it for a number of years. When I get behind the wheel of my son's CRV, it's a decent ride, but sorry, nothing near the luxury of the MDX or RDX for that matter.

I have test driven the BMW X7, Audi Q7, Lexus RX, and Mercedes GLE with open mind, and while I enjoyed the rides of the German cars, none of them, to me, were worth the extra $20K to get the same features as the fully loaded MDX. Plus repairs/reliability issues are something to consider.

The MDX competes with the X5, not the X7. The X5 does cost a bit more than the MDX, but not $20k more.

what was the price of the Q7? I didn't think they were that expensive.

This. Just get a pilot. My 9 year old said the back seat was tight when we tried one at the auto show. Some people are ok paying $10-$50k for for a luxury automobile, some aren’t that’s fine.

Not sure, but they compete with GLS 450 and x7 which are about $90k now.

I cannot imagine why anyone would pay $65k for an Acura. The appeal of them was that they were reasonably nice and cheap. You could get them for way under msrp.

You let your 9 year old influence your auto buying decisions?

Well I am getting $4,000 discount off the sticker price for my fully loaded MDX. I will take that over paying 85,000 for its German counterparts.

Yes, I’m glad someone is giving discounts again.

I got my 2019 rdx last year for $30,000. Totally worth it.
