Let’s update gradebook

Last time my DD teacher updated the grade book was December 9th….

Students have been doing assignments since then, semester end soon and nothing graded. I’m not telling you how to do your job, but you should update your grade book kids need to know if they are missing anything. Please

Happy to beat that with one class that hasn’t had a grade since 11/10.

Jesus, I just don’t understand why they just don’t update the gradebook

Because there are not enough hours in the workday - and the night and weekend.

The list of things y’all don’t understand about teacher workloads could fill the Grand Canyon.

Yes, well, plenty of teachers manage to keep the grade book updated.

I do.

But I also worked 6 hours on Sunday and from 9-11 pm every night last week. That is what it takes to stay current. I am unable to deal with the guilt of not doing it, but understand some of my colleagues don’t want to/can’t put in that much overtime.

It's your job. Do it.

The horror. Imagine what it must have been like for our parents, who couldn't check on our day-to-day gradebook progress back in the day! How did they EVER survive their anxiety?

No, I’ll do it when grades are due at the end of the quarter. I’m not working those extra hours, in addition to the hours I’m currently working outside of school.

Kids might also have less anxiety if they weren’t accessing the grade book everyday.

Teachers have too much to do. So they've decided that updating the grade book simply isn't going to get done. They do not care the impact this has on students. You can complain to administration, but nothing will change. They do not care either.

The lesson has a greater impact on the students then updating the gradebook - they’re just prioritizing.

It’s less about not putting the grades into SIS than not grading the work at all. When teachers don’t grade and return assignments, how are kids supposed to learn and do better the next time?

Are students getting feedback on their work any other way? Or do they have idea how they did on something until the grade is posted? Timely feedback is an important part of learning. Good teachers ought to know that.
