They let the most radical people go in and force the local residents out with the threat of force/death.

The only thing Israel has going for it is that the vast majority of the planet despises Hamas more than the Israeli government. But once Hamas is destroyed there will be enormous pressure on Israel to move those 700,000 right-wing fanatical settlers out of the West Bank. There is no hope for peace until that happens. And in the US at least, the politics around Israel has changed dramatically in the past year. Israel is going to have to change the status quo if they want to maintain any support from the outside world, particularly from the US. Israeli settlements in the West Bank will very much become a significant political issue here over the next few years.

You can't do to a population what Israel has done to Palestinians historically and is doing in Gaza right now (which includes deliberately starving the population while a 2-3 month supply of food waits at the border) without generating resistance. Israel's justification for the war is that it is "defending itself." This doesn't take into consideration that Palestinians have the right to do the same after decades of abuses. Israel stole the Palestinians' land and other property during the Nakba and has never compensated them for it. It has mistreated them for decades. It's allowing further ethnic cleansing and settler violence in the West Bank. There's support for erasing them from the Gaza Strip, which is just a small fragment of their former land. All of this is absolutely unacceptable and a gross injustice. Of course Palestinians feel enormous resentment. Why is anyone surprised that an organization like Hamas grew out of this situation? And why does anyone think further violence and injustice is going to make the Palestinians roll over rather than explode with rage over their murdered children/siblings/parents/friends, their bombed-out homes, and their stolen opportunities?

There are over 2 million people in Gaza who are starving (there is 100% food insecurity) and suffering horribly, are mad with grief, have terrible PTSD and other mental health disorders brought on by Israel's genocidal campaign, and have very little left to lose. Even if only 1% of them turn to terrorism, that's over 20,000 terrorists. Further, the Palestinians are gaining support as fast as Israel is losing it, and there are plenty of people outside Gaza who will fund (and possibly join) a resistance movement. Israel needs to stop this stupid, counter-productive, resentment-inducing brutalization and start thinking about long-term solutions for peace that are actually going to work.

Unfortunately Hamas is the only ones who know how to reconstruct Gaza again post war. They did three or four times already . I think they will come down but not by Israel by Gazans.

Gazans were protesting Hamas in Gaza even as recent as two weeks ago.

This war was not like the other wars. Many many many Gazans died and are starving to death than ever before. The death toll is about the same as the eight year Vietnam War US troop death toll of 50k in just five months if you count the missing that have not been found .

It’s unprecedented for both Gaza and for Israel and I think Netanyahu and Hamas will not be there for long. They both actually are saying the same things now (blaming the UN for hostages , 10/7,) Hamas knowing Gazans are devastated and angry at them are now backing off from 10/7 and saying random civilians unaffiliated with Hamas were also there . This is what Israel also says to justify civilian arrests and death . It’s suspicious it took both parties 5 months to acknowledge 10/7 wasn’t just Hamas but other parties like the UN. Neither are known for telling the truth and tellingly
The US didn’t buy it.


Israel and Hamas kills their own people. The people are the victims of their own governments . The investigation in Israel hasn’t even finished yet and it’s known that IDF got kill orders to bomb the kibbutz . The IDF and Hamas preserve themselves first from danger or face to face combat and the people die instead

I guess what I am coming to realize is that Israel will finish off Hamas never mind the humanitarian cost. They don’t care if they starve civilians, kill doctors, orphan babies, arrest journalists, etc etc.

What I don’t get is how American Jews descended from the holocaust or Pogroms think this is ok.

Israel lost its standing as a world class army. Why did they wait so long to enter Gaza? They went to Lebanon first?

The ground war should have happened immediately after 10/7 like the day of while Hamas and hostages were still in transit.

I have come to the conclusion that they do not see Palestinians as anything but a people to exploit
