Gaza War, Part 3

Anonymous
I am finding increasingly intolerable the tone-deaf posts of my pro-Israeli friends who are posting on social media about how much we need to protect Jewish children from various harms with zero mention of the literally thousands of Gazan children being starved to death by Israeli leadership in addition to the thousands of Gazan children how have been killed, maimed, and orphaned.

It's unconscionable, really, the blinders put on and the bizarre logic of blaming it all on Hamas, rather than blaming Netanyahu and his cronies for making immoral decisions during the course of this war. No one expects humanity from Hamas, but the deflection of any responsibility for what are not clearly war crimes against children by Israelis is disgusting. It's as if Israeli supporters believe that Israel can do no wrong in the course of war and that Israelis are given carte blanche to commit war crimes so long as there as still hostages.

More from this smug Russian or Polish or Ukrainian immigrant laying claim to lands occupied by indigenous people by virtue of her “Jewish Exceptionalism”.

Daniella Weiss's narcissism and entitlement are absolutely breathtaking! She needs a reality check.

I struggle with this, too. We are told we can't protest the deliberate starvation of Palestinian children because it might hurt someone's feelings. As in, "Stop pointing out that Palestinians are being genocided because it makes ME feel butthurt, and I'M the one who really matters here, not those sub-human, inconvenient, expendable Palestinian children."

We can't be intimidated by this toxic narrative or the horrible insults thrown our way.

For real peace in the Middle East, the USA needs to but the heck out- for good.

1967, that was when Egypt, Syria, Jordan, announced they were going to eliminate the Jew from the face of the Earth, and this is the fault of the US.

? I think you need to read up on history here. The ME wars have never been about “eliminating Jews from the face of the Earth”. That was Germany’s goal in the 1930s. The ME conflicts were land disputes. Surprise, surprise, the Palestinians did not like being kicked off their family property and other countries rose to their defense. At this point there is acceptance to revert to the 67 borders. Israel is the one standing in the way of peace and creating a man made famine / displacement of an entire population. So so sad. And immoral.

If they reverted to 67 borders, then Arabs would start fighting and demand new rollback. The goal is elimination of Israel and Jews revert to living under Muslim rule.

It’s not easy, but easier, to palate that insidious “us first, second, and always” above everyone else ethos in certain parts of the Jewish community. That type of absolute tribalism isn’t entirely unique to the Jewish community, after all.

But what makes this worse is that our government essentially mirrors the worst of these views. When you have a sitting President referring to Palestinians as “the other guys” and saying that what essentially everyone agrees will constitute a human catastrophe “crosses a red line” but won’t change one iota of our support for Israel, you have a major problem in government. And as much as everyone decries it, the problem is that U.S. foreign policy is shaped and influenced by far too many voices who have a very real, very intense conflict of interest in this particular matter.

I mean, just the laziest way of demanding the status quo (enhanced by continued land theft, of course, in flagrant violation of international law) without just saying those words.

Just say them.

You’re ok with Muslims living under Jewish rule, why not Jews living under Muslim rule? The King of Jordan is Muslim. That dude is 10,000x more civilized than any PM who has ever sat astride the Israeli Knesset.

If they go to the ‘45 the Israelis would do the same. What’s your point? There has not been a viable independent country in Palestine since the iron age.

What is ‘Muslim rule’?

I’ll pass on highlighting anything else specific, but unless you’re good at seeing the future, I would recommend you be more cautious about your predictions.

Jared Kushner suggests Israel should move Palestinians out of Gaza and 'clean it up'

Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump's White House adviser and son-in-law, called the waterfront property in Gaza "very valuable" during a discussion about the Middle East at Harvard University back in February. Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin joins CNN's Kailtan Collins to talk about the implications.

Oh look Harvard is now on the right side of the Israel Gaza new settlements plan. The very valuable land is pretty cheap once you remove the locals.

It's called racism.

This was the plan all along.

What do you mean revert to 67 borders? The borders of today are the 67 borders. Hamas said they were willing to recognize Israel /two state solution and 1967 borders back (WB and Gaza as Palestine) in 2017 after Trump got elected and Israel responded by taking more and more of the tiny West Bank. A punch in the face.

They used to free pass during the Trump years and went overboard . That hardened Hamas and pissed them off . That two state solution charter is I guess abandoned now .

If Israel won’t even honor that their nemesis essentially gave up and accepted reality that the tiny Gaza Strip and the tiny West Bank is for Palestinians only, what did you expect Palestinians do?

Sit quietly as West Bankers were killed in record numbers unprovoked in the past four years?

Israel only gives Palestinians things when they do terrorist acts. Prisoners, Gaza Strip, Oslo Accords. All of these things came about when Palestinians did the first and second intifada in the late 80s and early 00s. They never do anything nice when Palestinians are being nice or peaceful to them. Look at Mahmoud Abbas and the West Bank. He’s not even in the conversation because he’s not a militant actor like Israel or Hamas .

Even Trump , diehard pro Bibi/Israeli stooge, said he found Netanyahu as the real roadblock to a real two state solution not Palestinians.

Palestinians are not the enemies to peace . In my opinion, that’s Israel. Putting settlements to dot the West Bank when there’s literally empty land in Israel is petty behavior. There’s no way Israel can ever kick them out either or bring them back to Israel. They’re convinced they are on a manifest destiny to take everything and including the outreaches past the Jordan River to Jordan.

The only way they’ll be forced out is Palestinian resistance which I’m surprised after all the settler violence and murder and arson pre-10/7 and post/10/7 , Palestinians there haven’t violently burned their settlements down . That doesn’t align with the “Arabs want to kill all the Jews” rhetoric we see from the pro Israelis. If Palestinians wanted to kill all the IDF’ers or Jews in the settlement while their backs were turned , they are within reach but they don’t do that because they don’t want to die or have a war and run away from home yet again .

The settlements are also intentionally built by West Bank water so that Palestinians are forced to buy water from Israel . It’s stuff like this that will never guarantee peace and it’s like Israel wants a West Bank rebellion as well. Gaza isn’t enough

The smartest thing Israel could have done is protected West Bank sovereignty, not allowed illegal settlements, and worked in good faith with their partner in the West Bank on economic growth , resource sharing, and mutual counterterrorism .

Instead, it wanted to bankrupt the West Bank (Bibi’s words).

If I want to sabotage my neighbor, I can’t be surprised when they try to vandalize my front door or my home
