How do you define best ?
I am not from your area. There are builders where I build that are quite good and relatively fast, with strong paperwork. They are probably start at 600.09 a square foot. One I know quotes a 1000.00/sq. ft. Me - I’m smaller - likely slower (partly due to thoroughness) and my paperwork is slow in coming. I also have less social cachet. At a certain level I am not “socially acceptable”. So - two different build experiences at two different price points. You need to understand which model you want. The spread is likely a million on a decent size custom. |
$600 a square foot is ridiculously high.. |
Not really |
$600 ? Wow what are you building?? The top end homes in the area are around $400 MAX. |
Pull up any brand new construction in McLean and VA and see how much it’s costing |
Here you go. 318 owaissa rd se Vienna va. Top quality built at $340/per. Still crazy overpriced imo but that’s what I mean |
There are some good builders in North Arlington and McLean. Vienna - not so much. The market has been ceded to mid-tier McMansion schlock. It's not like it was in Vienna 10-15 years ago when Ayr Hill (Steve Bukont) and a handful of other builders were first buying older properties and building nice houses. |

Evergreen |
Ugly, cheap, plastic home with a pig snout. For $340 a square, it should be all brick, stone, upgraded roof, etc. |
JP Brehony was another builder in Vienna who used to build nice houses. Not sure if he's still around or active. |
And that's with land cost incl. To build on yours is closer to 250 per sq. |
Bukont is still active |
