Which is true - you should just eat 2-3 meals a day and no snacks, or have a snack to stave off overeating? What do you do?
I tend to eat breakfast mid-morning, then lunch around 1. But often I can’t get dinner on the table until 7 due to my commute, and by the time I get home I’m famished and snacking on crap when I come in the door. Should I just push lunch later or have a snack? (I’m trying to lose about 40 pounds). |
The total calories is all that matters for fat loss. I would have that snack to avoid being super hungry and bingeing later. |
have an apple it will buy you about 2 hours of non hunger time |
I have some greek yogurt and an Rx bar mid afternoon. My afternoons are really busy so i really need a substantial snack. My dinner is usually pretty light. I'm not trying to lose though- just maintain |
I have a cheese stick on my way home from work. |
I usually have a handful of peanuts around 5pm and this helps me not binge as much at dinner |
I have a protein bar around 4/5, or finish any of my lunch that is left over (like the other half of my wrap or whatever it was). Otherwise I get so hungry I eat crap. |
I think it’s very individual. I have insulin resistance, so I’m trying reeeally hard not to snack to limit insulin spikes to hopefully become more insulin sensitive. But some people definitely need more regular fuel to feel their best. |
Rarely. If I do, I likely had a not-filling-enough salad for lunch. |
You mean you’re diabetic? |
I have a snack around 3 or 4. I work out before dinner, so we don’t eat until 7 - 7:30z |
I often dip a spoon into our jar of Skippy around 4pm. that gets me to dinner which is around 6. Don't eat again until around 11am the next day. |
Sometimes. Yesterday I had fruit for breakfast, then a big lunch, then came home and had an apple, then dinner.
Sometimes I'm more hungry, sometimes less hungry. |
1/2 a vanilla OUI yogurt between lunch and dinner. Why a 1/2 even though they are small? Too much sugar and they are full fat. I wait for the day there is a low fat, low sugar (NO artificial sweetener) good tasting yogurt. |
Yes. I snack on raw celery with a thin scraping of peanut butter, limited number of baby carrots (carbs!), sliced sweet peppers, pickles, and raw mushrooms. Filling and holds me until diner. Plus it's fun to crunch! |
