| This was Vince Grey 2.0, as I predicted in the previous thread back in October. What a crock of sh#t. |
|
Will Eric Goulet now please shut up?
If Elissa decides she wants to run again, what’s the best path? Both of the AL members up for re-election in 2024 seem well settled. She could go after Brooke, I guess. |
Where does Silverman live? Ward 2? Pinto is the daughter of a hedge fun executive and seems to have stronger than expected ties to the business community. Pinto is pretty moderate for DC and the W2 downtown interests would financially back her against a Silverman challenge. Unfortunately I think Silverman is shut out. |
She lives in Ward 6, I believe. She’s not primary-ing Charles Allen, I presume. |
In what world would there be a groundswell of Ward 2 support for Silverman? Her best hope is that Bonds retires or McDuffie abandons the seat to run for mayor. |
I think the only Ward that she would have less support than Ward 2 is Ward 8 |
And Ward 7. The maps that show where Elissa got the most support in 2018 and then in 2022 are striking, because her votes almost totally disappeared in Wards 2, 3 and (perhaps most surprisingly) 4. She always had trouble getting votes EOTR and that didn't change this year, but wide swaths of the city turned their backs on her. You're never going to win a citywide elections if the only people who vote for you are privileged white people in Wards 1 and 6. Silverman learned that the hard way in 2022. |
| She got off easy. Should have been found guilty but since she lost I guess they don’t care. |
Today’s Ward 2 is not your parent’s Ward 2. Lots of new condos and the new money is more liberal than the old money. The current CM won her primary by a whisker and has done very little since. |
| Shades of Hillary's emails. |
True but she is still the daughter of wealthy parents who probably has more in common with the residents of Georgetown than Silverman does. |
Silverman -- the most viable liberal candidate in the at-large field -- got nearly 4,000 fewer votes in Ward 2 in 2022 than she did in 2018. If the new money is more liberal, they sure have a funny way of showing it. |
Believing that Ward 2 will go from Jack Evans to Elissa Silverman within just a few years is divorced from reality. |
GU and GWU are an untapped resource for liberal candidates. If she cultivated them, it’d be more feasible. Also, Brooke just won her primary in a very crowded field which split the liberal vote. Brooke has been a bit of a nonentity since. I wouldn’t bet against Elissa if she went head-to-head with Brooke in the primary. |
