Agreed. No one with other options will want to go anywhere near LCPS. They’ll be scraping the bottom of the barrel for this one.

I don't think you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find someone willing to follow basic procedures for notifying school personnel of students with pending sexual assault charges.

I think lots of highly qualified candidates will have reservations about overseeing a school system where RW parents will run to Fox News at the drop of a hat and stage demonstrations at school board meetings, and where the governor has made clear he’s going to target school officials who don’t toe the RW party line.

Keep in mind, because of the way this is being done, he is fired "without cause" which means he will still draw full salary, and a range of other benefits.

It would cost more than that for LCPS to litigate whether there is sufficient grounds for termination with cause within the meaning of the contract, and if LCPS lost it might have to pay out additional amounts (e.g., pre-judgment interest) in addition to the contractual severance. Plus, the wrongful termination/breach of contract litigation might have given Ziegler an opportunity to present a whole lot of evidence that didn’t make it into the grand jury report and that would reflect very poorly on the board. It is unsurprising the board took the path of least resistance here.
