| I don't know any. |
| Who the hell knows this? I've never asked ANY of my friends or relatives (except my dad, when I was applying to college) how much they earned. That would be wildly inappropriate. |
| 20%. All teachers. |
| 50% because the only person I ever asked this was my husband and he wasn't. |
| OP you don’t know many people and come from a very educated family. Congrats I guess. |
Discussing salary is the only way that many of my female friends found out that they were underpaid relative to their male counterparts. But yes, let's work on keeping this salary info hush hush so the discrimination can continue. |
| Most Americans don't earn this in their lifetime. I think my max pay was $57,000. |
| Don’t think I knew anyone |
Hi, nice to meet you. I make less than 75 at 36. So does my best friend and her husband. So did my husband until 3 years ago. My sons preschool teachers. My sons little best friends mom who is a teacher. |
| A lot of working trust funders will never get close to 75K, though their lifestyles might suggest otherwise. |
|
Individually? (Ie, not household?)
Nearly all, myself included, we’re making less than that on their 30th birthday. Lots of teachers, people in politics, government, graduate school (people with Ph.Ds were pretty recent graduates at that point). A few people who hopped around a bunch and didn’t settle into their careers until later in their 20s. This was also 10 years ago, so inflation plays a role. |
| I'm 45 and make $66,000 as a lawyer at a nonprofit. OP, you have a very narrow view of the world. |
| Probably all of my family and half the people from my home town? |
| 100 percent of the adults in my household. DH and I are both journalists, and both pretty successful. It took us each until 40+ to reach 100k. |
| You should get out more. Meet different types of people. |
