Does an MCPS/W cluster boy with a 4.0/4.7 GPA and 1570 SAT, good but not amazing ECs and no other hooks have a chance of getting in RD at William and Mary?
Thanks.

i would say so, definitely if was in state, but more than likely fine for OOS as well. ED and male (along with great status) are the things that definitely give him an edge.

NP - what about someone similar to that - also OOS - at UVA?

so wait, a kid with just about perfect scores is only a maybe at an in-state public U? I don't understand--who is getting in anywhere?

My kid has 32 ACT and 4.0/4.7 and folks are telling me to shoot for state colleges. Really? I'm so confused.

The OP is not in state. If they were yes it would be be a shoe in.

Who knows but probably very good chances to UVA as well. ECs will be more important to UVA I’d say.

PP isn't also up to date with what is going on with in-state and OOS admissions to UVA and W&M. It's no one's shoo-in. They are no longer safeties for anyone.

William & Mary OOS is not much different than in state.

I’d be sure to show a lot of interest, especially given his high stats. Has he visited? If not, can he?

W&M considers demonstrated interest so definitely show interest. My guess is he will get in.

Only because he’s a he and he would still be wise to show a lot of interest. Tour, interviews, open emails, etc.
