| Looking for inspiration. |
| I’m going to try the NYT ombré root veg gratin. |
| I have been vegetarian for 41 years. There is no need for a "main" dish. All of the sides are what makes up your meal. Vegetarians don't eat a hunk of protein the way meat-eaters do. Maybe make some type of bean casserole and call it a main. |
| If you eat crab, we’ve done a crab au gratin type dish that everyone enjoyed. |
|
Potatoes au gratin. With cream, so not vegan.

My mom made broccolli cheese casserole for years as the main dish.
This year we are going vegan and doing chili. |
| I'm planning a vegetarian shepard's pie for friday using leftover mashed potatoes! Otherwise I'm with the PP -- I just eat an entire meal of delicious side dishes. One dinner without a ton of protein won't hurt at all! |
| I’m newly vegetarian and never liked traditional Thanksgiving food. So I’m looking for ideas. |
Please report back— I am intrigued but it seemed a little complicated/time consuming for me |

The kids have talked the adults into fried chicken and macaroni and cheese instead of turkey, so we'll have buttermilk fried oyster mushrooms, and some vegan gnudi with butternut squash and cranberries for the vegan, and people who want more traditional Thanksgiving flavors.

You may not specifically NEED a vegetarian main, but it is kind of nice to have a special holiday centerpiece item. I love the mushroom Wellington from NYT. I don’t want to get accused of being a shill for the Times though…she has a great YouTube video walking you through the steps and the the filling can be made a day ahead. You just wrap it up in puff pastry and bake the day of.

This plus all of our normal sides. Still have a turkey, just making this (by request) for our meatless guest. |
Left over sweet potatoes also make a delightful shepherd's pie topping. |
| Ugh. Glad I'm not going to your house, OP. |
My vegetarian daughter agrees with this. |
