You guys are creepy talking about 4th graders like this, even ones who choose (or their parents choose for them) to have social media

Fair. But you're reading this. And also commenting on this. So....what are we talking about here? Let's not pretend to care about these boundaries anymore. We blew past that wall a LONG time ago.

Speak for yourself. Most of us are here to get valuable information, not make up rumors about a group of 9 year olds.

I assume the two outside ringers are playing on the first GFR team next year.

From what someone else posted it’s was 3 players from a top team of another club, 2 from GFR top team and, 2 from GFR 2nd team. One has to wonder that if they brought so many players why did they play in the lowest bracket…these top team players needed a trophy that bad?

Because that's the bracket the tournament put them in?

For those who are not familiar with this...this is the Great Falls way. Has been this way for decades. Winning with ringers is more important than my own child developing. Just win. Be a champion. Even if you had to buy it.

you're clearly referring to or just familiar with the great falls staff who now are largely at riverbend. the current gfr staff is almost all new to the club, most of the coaches have turned over and the current coaching staff is much more focused on developing talent than the previous coaches who have left/are leaving.

The rec director, over half the coaching staff and the entire BoD at RBFC are ex-GF people. Sprinkle in the Loudoun East crew that seems to be combined with RBFC at this point and RBFC is just GF 2.0 - throwing money around and thinking that's all they need to be succesful.

I’m a team manager who registered our team for the Virginian. We absolutely did specify a preferred level of competitiveness. The organizers did not seem to listen though as they put us in a level above where we should have been. The team hung in there, but it was a bit frustrating.

I'm also a TM who registered for the Virginian, it asked about your team - I think it says "tell us about your team" or something like that, but did not specifically ask for a preferred level of competitiveness. I suppose you could have requested something in that spot but we did not and were also not placed well. I imagine this team registered before they had confirmed guest players? Usually you register first and then do your rosters weeks later.

The coach of the team with all the guest players doesn't sound interested in development.

You're wrong. He had a roster of 5 and did a great job getting guest players together so these girls could have one final tournament this Spring after a rough year with lots of girls leaving thanks to the chaos caused by VL and others at Riverbend. All of this negativity about this team is really hard to read after what the girls went through this year. I really can't believe people are this upset about our girls winning a dang trophy - there were THREE teams in the bracket, we registered very last minute and were clearly stuck where they needed a team. Did you expect the 5 girls to play with just 5 players and no subs? They're the bottom team, there was no where to go but up when looking for guest players!!!
