They’re not gonna get bailed out this time. Trump 1.0 needed their votes for 2.0. Now that Trump is untouchable he doesn’t need anyone and Stephan Miller really doesn’t GAF. Womp, womp. |
Frankly he hates his rural low-wealth voters. He is surely happy now he has enough power that he can tell them bluntly that he has always despised them and looks forward to them begging at the white house gates. maybe he'll throw them some scraps from his table to keep them alive longer, so he can enjoy watching them grovel longer. |
More farmer f#ckery:
https://www.syracuse.com/state/2025/04/upstate-ny-farmer-shocked-by-trump-tariffs-mistakenly-thought-canada-would-pay.html Here’s the thing about farmers: they are businessmen, they own (inherited) assets, many of them are quite well off, they are not idiots. I’m convinced many farmers are simply just pricks. |

Some farmers who own a lot of inherited land - not all of them - are becoming multi-millionaires now as they sell off or develop all that land. The ones I know of are solidly Republican. |
Yep. All the farmland right here in the DMV is gone. I had not been down R301 in Maryland in years. There used to be lots of farms and one farm where I took DC for Halloween haystacks and rides. It’s all gone and now shopping centers, town houses, and SFH. |
That works for the very small numbers who own land near urban centers. But no one is going to pay millions for land in the middle of Iowa or Nebraska where most farmland is located. |
There are fewer tools for Trump to bail them out this time. The fund he used last time to give them something like $28 billion has a lot less slack this time around. And the tariff damage is worse. Our debt is worse. And he’s scaring bond markets. And he wants to deport all the migrants they hire. Farmer are going be deep in the “find out” phase. |
Tools aside, he really doesn’t care. What would he need them for at this point? |
He’ll just point his fingers if asked. And it will be incoherent finger pointing at that. Farmers are genuinely on their own this time. |
Almost 60% of Missouri voted for rump. |
Uh, I think those billionaires are going to start lowballing farmers. That’s why they want them to go bankrupt. |
