Help! My HFA DS decided he wants to try to fit in a little better with his peers. We are working on a number of things but clothes is one of them. I’m clueless!
What does a typical teen boy wear on a daily basis? Where do you buy the clothes and shoes? I know the casual sporty look is in but need some some specific ideas. He’s just wants to blend in so just looking for some basics. |

My son dresses really casual and this his basically his “uniform”. He wears a basic hoodie with a tiny logo every day. He has similar in several colors, like black, navy, grey etc. https://www.amazon.com/Under-Armour-Fleece-Hoodie-Medium/dp/B07YXMV5K9/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3OB0YR0CCCRHS&keywords=under+armour+hoodie&qid=1668078896&sprefix=underarmour+hoodie%2Caps%2C72&sr=8-3
he also has hoodies from his own sports teams. Solid colored athletic shorts, the brand isn’t important. Crew socks pulled up. He likes white or black. Many of his friends wear crocs. Mine has regular sneakers. So crocs or athletic shoes, whichever your son prefers. I buy almost exclusively from Amazon since my son doesn’t like shopping. |

Hoodies and jogger style pants. Pants can be sweats- like material or more golf pant- style material. Brands they all like are Nike, Adidas, and Champion (making a big comeback for some reason?!). Under Armour is not as cool as it used to be. The North Face and Patagonia are other good ones. No discernible brand at all can also be ok (better than noticeably “off-brand).
My son wears joggers (black, charcoal, light gray) and a hoodie (white, black, navy, tan, or gray) everyday with Adidas sneakers or Old school Nike low top court shoes (also a retro trend from the 80s). |

Like PP, my son wears simple sports-brand (Nike, Puma, etc.) hoodies in black, navy, gray with minimal logos.
He likes teeshirts that are plain or have minimal prints. This year he got a few Adidas graphic tees but he also likes Uniqlo basic teeshirts. He wears Bonobos pants - gray, navy, etc. White crew socks. Gray sneakers - he likes Adidas Samba style. |
| I’m the first poster and agree that UA isn’t worn to be cool. It’s more that the hoodie I linked had a tiny logo and my son finds it comfortable. His big thing is not wearing big logos of any kind and after that, cares about comfort. |

OP here. Thanks for all the info so far. Links are greatly appreciated.
And I can assure you he’s not looking to be extra cool or popular, just trying to dress like everyone else! |
| What does he wear now that makes him/you think he doesn’t fit in? |

Mom of another teen boy who dresses exactly like those above. Joggers in shades of black/gray/navy, T-shirt from sports teams (his own or fan tshirts), hoodies. Champion hoodies and joggers work - go with the little logo, not the big writing.
And if he likes crocks, those are good. Shade of gray/black. |
| Mine wears joggers and shirts from American Eagle. And I think all of his friends wear a version of the same. And it's easy and comfortable. |

I’m PP who posted at 06:38. The best place to shop (although it’s not necessarily the cheapest) is Dicks Sporting Goods. They always have a good selection of joggers and hoodies in the brands that the kids like. You can get the shoes there too.
Sometimes you can get lucky at Kohls too, although their coupons never work for brand-name things. I just tend to stick with DSG since the selection is huge, it’s a one-stop shop, and online shopping is easy. |

Joggers and hoodies. Hoodies and joggers. Tshirts and shorts when weather permits. Maaaaybe a flannel shirt.
Plain designs, unless it’s the logo/name of the high school or a sports team. Not so much with the graphic tees. |
I came in to say Dicks as well. My 16 YO Boy "Uniform" is a hoodie My son picked some pastels this year. Here is a link to the "barely green" and this is a good example of small logo: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/nike-mens-sportswear-club-fleece-hoodie-19nikmmnswclbhdpbnft/19nikmmnswclbhdpbnft?color=Barely%20Green T Shirts are American Eagle - https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/men/t/crew-neck-t/ae-super-soft-icon-t/1163_1972_400?menu=cat4840004 My son wears jeans from Abercrombie (boys size) since he is really slim - they come long. Sneakers - my son needs to wear "running shoes" due to a foot issue. He has Reebok Nano X2 https://www.reebok.com/us/nano-x2-men's-training-shoes/GY2292.html?pr=product_rr&slot=1&rec=mt and Nike Air Max 90 |

One word: hoodie
...usually worn worn with gym-type shorts. Year-round. Don't question it. |

Does your school have a facebook / instagram / twitter feed?
You might be able to get a sense of what the kids are wearing from there |
This is how my son dresses, and his friends who are girls tell him that he needs to dress better. |
