| So I’m contemplating my choices and normally vote for the Republican ticket. However, Lipsman doesn’t seem like the typical Republican. She has very little info on her stance on issues. I did see on her FB page that she is pro-trans (not just pro marriage equality, which I think most people believe in). I’m surprised Youngkin is campaigning with her. Does anyone know more about her stance on policies? Is there anything really awesome about her that would draw me back to the Republican ticket? I’m not a big fan of Beyer, but he did help build the levy in my community for his poorer constituents to help with flooding, so he has done some good. |
Correction: my husband said it was actually a different elected official who helped bring the levy here. Not Beyer. |
|
There is a reason there is little real info on Lipsman. She doesn't really have substantive experience or positions.
I understand you typically vote Republican, but Beyer is a long time business owner, and not extreme left, with a good record on constituent services (there's another thread on this). I think you can feel comfortable with a Beyer vote. |
| She is literally promoting a conspiracy theory on her website, but sure, she’s totally normal. |
|
Per her website, she supports Republican efforts to reform social spending programs, which means cutting Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid. She supports school vouchers, which would kill public education.
I could not find anything on her website to indicate she supports LGBTQ+ rights, so perhaps you can provide a citation for that claim. Her website used to promote her anti-abortion stance until she realized that was a losing position so now she’s changed her tune on that. She is a covid denier who said at a candidate’s forum that Fauci should be jailed. If those are your values, go ahead and vote for her. But if they were your values, I doubt you would be having qualms about voting Republican in the first place. |
| She also either is an idiot, or believes her would-be constituents are idiots. All of this nonsense about how she’s going to stop the Missing Middle proposal by withholding federal funding for Arlington shows a fundamental misunderstanding about how our government works. |
| Rep Beyer has worked hard to represent his entire congressional district—not just dems. He focuses on issues that matter to us in his district and is very responsive in getting answers to the community about their concerns. He keeps getting re-elected for these reasons, so why vote for Lipsman? What is she going to do for our district? I ask as she has yet to demonstrate that she will listen to all district 8 voters, and seems to just want to beat democrats versus govern. |
Sure, you are a Republican! Look, Beyer is going to win by a landslide. I know this is part of your staff responsibility to trash other candidates, but why are you bothering with Lipsman? Do something more productive with your time. |

OP - coming here looking for honest feedback and advice is fruitless.
It is predominantly a liberal site, so you will get very little positive information about Lipsman. |
If you think there are positives about her, why don’t you share them? It sounds alike you’re conceding she’s a bad candidate. |
| Her signs crack me up. She has them in ever color but red and attempts to pander to various groups. One just says “Women! Karina Lipsman!” Another is “Latinos! Karina Lipsman!” Ok, sure. |
Don’t forget “Veterans” and “Stand with Ukraine” (by cutting off all aid to Ukraine). |
Sure, your post tries to posit that Lipsman is socially liberal (she's not) and that's your issue with her (even though she's as right as you can get) |
Your a moron. She is an immigrant from Ukraine. She has lots of family still there. So I think the Stand With Ukraine issue is legit. She will support them much more than any Dem will…. |
How exactly? She is a member of the Republican Party. The Republican Party has several members who are pro-Putin. How is voting for her "standing with Ukraine?" |
