I think people are just assuming because they are governed by US soccer. Which BY is staying as the grouping for national teams. Also Ga has partnered with MLSN which people believe is staying By as well.As of now there has been no reason to think they are changing to 9/1

I think there will be pressure from clubs to go SY if all their young teams and their B, C, D, etc. older teams are also on school year.

if 80% are on one calender it makes it almost impossible to hold out for anyone but MLSN.

Remember that MLSN Tier 2 allows High School Soccer, what it’s not allowed at MLSN Tier 1.

That’s a good hint that MLSN Tier 1 could remain BY but Tier 2 go SY.

There is zero chance that MLSN has 2 different registrations. It just as easily signal that MLSN is going SY as well. Collaboration between the entire youth soccer ecosystem has been stated numerous times.

One of the reasons I’m sure they went with Sept 1 is because I already heard parents with August kids in their correct grade level saying they would just play down to have the benefits of the oldest kids. All that would’ve done would’ve created teams missing players at practice cause of High School and then leaving teams when they graduated a year earlier forcing teams to scramble to fill positions senior year.

Easy to fix this - August kids play with their grade year. Provide proof of enrollment with birth certificate and you are done. And you actual achieve the SY registration goal of having grade peers play together. These leagues can’t seem to think outside the box.

To be fair - no league has said anything so there could be some variation of this
