However MLS Next Tier 2 could be SY.

Let's see ...

If the plan is for a tier 2 team who’s the best of tier 2 to win its way to MLSN tier 1 it wouldn’t work to have them separate.

Our boys club was just put in tier 2 and chose that as the option because MLSN will add full members based on merit.

This is my club directors opinion but he said MLSN is partnering with other youth leagues to help build a BY feeder system. If it can’t be done well enough they will also switch to SY cut offs.

I think the hard part with keeping BY is USYS switching. They are SO large, with their state systems, it would be hard to replace. That said, our club just switched the Boys from E64 (USYS) to MLSN Tier 2. So, we're more the test case if we then keep BY or what do WE do if all our u-littles stay in USYS. Also, no word what we do with our girls (also currently E64).

I do feel for August kids who are born in states with August cutoffs. One of the reasons I’m sure they went with Sept 1 is because I already heard parents with August kids in their correct grade level saying they would just play down to have the benefits of the oldest kids. All that would’ve done would’ve created teams missing players at practice cause of High School and then leaving teams when they graduated a year earlier forcing teams to scramble to fill positions senior year.

Sorry I can’t go through 727 pages to know the status. I thought the decision was 26/27. Has there been a change? People mention a decision this week. What decision. Can someone summarize? My kid is a Q4 and this would really benefit him.

I don’t trust a lot on the promotion/relegation system promised by MLS Next to the new incorporated Tier 2 clubs.

In the Wisconsin, Minnesota, Dakota, Iowa area, the only MLS Academy club is Minnesota United, whose Academy teams play Tier 1.

Minnesota United will never allow any club in the area promoting from Tier 2 to Tier 1.

They are part of MLS, they want to keep the monopoly at MLS Next Tier 1.

We have very similar problem.

- Academy 1 is joining MLSN Tier 2 (BY).

- Academy 2 is joining ECNL-R (SY).

It will be a nightmare to organize the age brackets based in two different systems BY/SY.

And then how do tournaments work? Some teams will have significant numbers of older kids if/when teams from different leagues play each other.

But what’s been established is the BY Q1 kids are all superior talents and RAE doesn’t exist so it should be fine to have SY vs BY teams….

The Us soccer plan will include tournaments from what I am told. When cross play is involved.

Tournaments will have to pick ... Have SY play up (If BY tourney) OR have BY play up (If SY tourney)

As of this point No change happening until Fall 26. We are waiting for each governing body to announce their plans.

It was announced at the US soccer summit most teams will switch to 9/1. But no formal announcement to the public yet.

Yep. Ask your club what they are doing and plan accordingly. Don't let them punt anymore. The only way they could be fuzzy is if they are MLSN or GA OR if they say they are trying to switch to that (but that would also be insightful).

What we know for sure is that the soccer age groups will not change next year. It doesn’t mean there won’t be some type of transition plan, particularly for USCS.

Silly to assume GA is staying BY

I don't think anyone is assuming that. It's a bit of an open question, given their alliance with MLSN and neither has indicating what's next. It wouldn't surprise if they and MLSN II are SY but it wouldn't surprise if they stay BY, either.
