Honestly, does Ryan Reynolds have any fans? I feel like his insufferable obnoxious corny ass has been shoved down our throats for 20 years. Some studio boss must really adore him. Maybe the effeminate douche thing worked in the early 00s but in 2025 his shtick is beyond grating. He reminds me of Ellen. Shoved in our faces and nobody can figure out why.

See also Ryan Seacrest. These zesty men gotta be the boy toy of someone extremely powerful.

Very different examples. Ryan Reynolds has made a ton of movies and is a bona fide movie star, whether you like him or not. He made Van Wilder over 20 years ago. He is very much not my taste, but there is a pretty big audience in the US for his style of humor, plus he also had a decent run at more mainstream movies like Definitely, Maybe and the Proposal, Adventureland, etc. He's getting older but he did a really good job in terms of getting his career ready for that, by nailing down a franchise (Deadpool) and then diversifying into business and producing. Wrexham was a really smart move, in terms of keeping him in the public eye and giving him multiple ways of self-promoting plus expanding his international footprint.

I do not like Ryan Reynolds but there are only a very small number of actors who figure out how to make that kind of career work. He's definitely A-list, even with all this stuff happening with the lawsuits and even with people being kind of down on him now. Never forget the Tom Cruise couch-jumping incident and how that torpedoed one of the better Mission Impossible films, yet Cruise came back and remains one of, if not the most bankable star in Hollywood. Despite being a total weirdo with an uncomfortable intensity, a well known association with a creepy cult, and just generally being hard to like as a person.

Ryan Seacrest is a television host who scored big with American Idol and has gotten into producing TV. It's a very different thing. Ryan Seacrest is like a more successful Billy Bush. Ryan Reynolds is an A-list movie star.

Agree with you, though it’s interesting other than Deadpool all your examples are a very, very long time ago. Deadpool is very successful and I could see one more coming out, though these movies take a long time to get developed and made and there is not one in the docket yet so likely 5 years away.

Reynolds is smart to have a lot of behind the scenes stuff happening as he ages. I don’t see him having another hit that has him in front of the camera other than another Deadpool just given his age (and aside from the iconic and nostalgic top gun sequel, even Cruise really only has had Mission impossible for the last decade or so.)

I do think this has damaged his brand as one part of a celebrity couple. It’s probably the end of the era of witty Blake and Ryan banter on Instagram. But I agree he will probably do well financially either way.

We aren’t as kind to women in Hollywood. I don’t see Blake doing much after this. Especially given the Taylor rift. Seems like even with reynolds media influences the press chose Taylor.

Maybe this scheme will lead to their divorce and then he and Hugh can go public.

When you take a macro view of their relationship and her inexplicable career trajectory it certainly reads like a mutually beneficial arrangement.

This guy is hilarious. I love his commentary. He has really good points. My husband would never kiss another guy or hold hands, even as a joke. And I think it's true that Blake is dumber than a box of rocks.

It explains a lot about Ryan. He’s so deeply anxious at times. It does seem like he wears a mask that is slipping. And honestly, I love some of his older movies like the proposal and just friends, but as charming as he was in those he’s never had an ounce of sexual chemistry with any of the female costars.

It is weird that in the last year or so he’s been much more openly joking. kissing Andrew Garfield or whoever, and he’s definitely made a lot of jokes with Hugh recently about how they are a couple. He made a joke a few months before the lawsuit about how he and Blake had a 25-year-old contract that she was still honoring. I just thought it was really weird.

It kind of reminds me of Tom Cruise and the couch jumping phase. Just kind of thinking he was bigger than anything and nothing could touch him and letting the mask slip a little bit.

This is so clearly not a straight man and you will never convince me otherwise.

So funny! ....................... totally not just an excuse to kiss another famous man in public under the guise of humor.

Several of us said this 100s of pages ago. These Hollywood arrangements are very common, whether people want to hear it or not. Diane Von Furstenberg’s husband just came out of the closet, and they’ve been together for 50 years (25 years dating on and off and 25 years married). He wrote an essay about it for NY mag a few weeks ago.

Ryan has kissed many men, not just Andrew. That’s not something straight men do. And Andrew for his part has said he’s attracted to women but is open to exploring. That’s not something straight men say. It’s an open secret it seems that Hugh, Ryan’s bff, has had affairs with his male assistant and male trainer. According to the blinds, Ryan likes women but will experiment if you get him drunk and they say he has hooked up with Hugh.

I don’t think anyone really cares about Ryan’s sexuality. Society is a lot more accepting now but some gay or bisexual male actors choose to stay in the closet so it doesn’t compromise their acting career. The fear for people like Hugh is that some fans may find it difficult to see them in masculine roles like Wolverine if they come out.

That’s all to say Blake and Ryan very likely have an open marriage and instead of acknowledging that possibility and examining the role that could’ve played in the JB drama, we’re playing respectability politics and pretending it’s impossible and offensive to even consider.

Speculating about the sexuality of an actor just because you don't like him or his wife is a very special brand of homophobia. Just stop. You can dislike Ryan, and Blake, without turning it into "oh he must be gay." Because guess what, if he is gay, it doesn't matter. And if he isn't gay, it also doesn't matter. If he and Blake are both bi and have an open relationship... it also doesn't matter. If they are both asexual and don't actually have sex with anyone and all their kids were IVF... it also doesn't matter.

A person's sexuality is a private matter that is none of your business and is not relevant to whether you side for or against them in a lawsuit or like them as a person. Is Baldoni secretly gay? Jamey Heath? Sarowitz? It truly does not matter, it has zero bearing on anything, leave it alone.

It matters if their open marriage played a role in the dynamics between them and Justin. Pretending that these arrangements don’t exist is actually more homophobic in my opinion because we’re treating it as too taboo to talk about.

+1. Not just the open marriage part, the part where this D-list nobody who can’t act still has this totally undeserved career at nearly 40 years old, seemingly only because she’s married to this guy. And then she has him risking his own reputation and all of his Hollywood clout defending her hoax. It feels like a mutually assured destruction situation.

The amount of fantasy and speculation in this comment... you are inventing these scenarios in your head.

Did you know it's possible to defend Baldoni and reject Blake's narrative while sticking to known facts in the legal pleadings, or things that are accepted public knowledge? Why not just do that?

It actually undermines your argument when you go off on these speculative tangents like "oh Blake was in love with Baldoni and Ryan found out and flew into a jealous rage and that's why they did this" or "oh Ryan is actually a closet homosexual and this is a marriage of convenience and now he's going to divorce her and hook up with Hugh Jackman," you don't convince anyone of anything. You just sound crazy.
