| I am talking about diamond rings and expensive watches. Do you leave them at home when you go out in the evenings in DC? |
| Yes. And we live + work in DC. I am out a lot downtown late at night wearing my jewelry. |
| I have one piece of “good” jewelry. It is my engagement ring. I usually wear it. |
+2. I have more occasion to wear them in DC than in the suburbs. |
| Would you not wear them because you think you’ll be robbed, or because DC nightlife is not worthy of your good jewelry? |
| I’m amused by how suburbanites think DC is some kind of war zone. Where are you planning to go, OP? The Kennedy Center? I think you’ll be ok. |
| I heard OP’s going to an embassy dinner in Kalorama. I wouldn’t chance wearing the good stuff, OP. You’ll be on foreign territory and you never can know what may happen. |
|
I have a watch that I don’t wear on the train. It’s pretty obvious and I don’t need to be worrying about it.
Same with a pair of earrings and a cocktail ring that are super flashy and very real. They are for events for which I take a cad direct to the destination only, partly because the earrings have slightly fussy hooks that I don’t trust, so I like to know there are only 1-2 places to look if one slips out. |
| Your question leads me to assume you are a sheltered/naive wealthy suburban mother. Yes, it is safe to wear your jewels in DC. I hope you enjoy your event. |
Take them to a jeweler and have omega backs put on them. |
|
OP just wear your stuff you are being absurd.
Yes, I wear mine all the time. It is made to be worn. |
Whyyyy would I do that? Is there something wrong with you? |
| Are you going to one of the galas, LOL? |
I got mugged. Testified. And the guy had priors so went to jail for ten years. I moved out of DC. |
So true. Muggings only happen in DC. Nowhere else. |
