Yes, RD to Kenyon. We were expecting the decision to be in mid March!

Congrats! Fascinating school!

Why is it?

Here to ask the same thing. We are taking my kid to visit next month and hopefully see what’s what. He was admitted to the honors college and got merit aid… it has a program he likes and we have family in Tucson so he applied. Curious if anyone has more info on here about Arizona! (I saw somewhere that like 40% of their students are not from Arizona! Lots of California kids?).

And Oregon kids living on the western side of OR. They are trying to escape the rain for sunny Tucson. Great foods and better tamales than many other places. If you are visiting next month you are visiting during one of the better weather months. That could sway your decision. The rest of the months it's hat, sunglasses, shade in your car, stay inside in air conditioning kinda weather. People are out running at 6am then you don't really see them outside. It's a nice campus. And it's just ~4 years.

And schools are closed for their long tradition of rodeo week.

Oregon schools are closed for rodeo week? Or Arizona is?!

The word on Reddit is they moved at least some (not sure if all) of the merit aid scholarships up the calendar.

Also Loyola gave enough merit aid where the COA would be $25k all in.

I have kid at Loyola and one at UVA. Loyola is better ROI so far.

Train from DC/Alexandria to Baltimore is under $20. Good luck making your decision!

Do they commute from DC area to Loyala Baltimore for class or other activities? Or it's that cheap and close to visit your kid/your kid visit you while they are at Loyala?

They don't commute, but is really convenient to visit for an O's game or Ravens game. My kid can also come home for haircuts or dental appointments and go back to school the next day. We even saved money on the student health plan ($3000) b/c if he needs something like a strep test, he can go to the pediatrician at home. Our other option would have included a need for a car on campus or a lot of flights. Just things that are worth factoring in...

So not having a car on campus won’t be an issue? We haven’t visited and wondering if most of students don’t bring their cars on campus.

I went there as well (in the early 1990s) and I had a car sophomore year. My son's roommate had a car (he cut some kind of deal). Rarely drives it.
As a freshman, they used Ubers a lot. When I had a car on campus people asked to borrow it a lot and you become the default parent-running to the grocery store etc., so I discouraged a car for my kid. Now rethinking that but kids tend to stay on campus as juniors and seniors b/c the housing is nice (LM bought apartment buildings around the school and turned them into dorms). Campus is really walkable. He and his gf walk to the rec/aquatic center every day and it is less than a mile from the dorms. There is also a shuttle, but driving to class is not a thing. Their version of Tysons is Towson Town Center and that's 10-12 miles away.
The campus is somewhat gated, so the spots you pay for on campus are enough for those who sign up. (I think it is $500). When we tried to buck the system in the 1990s we parked at local churches. The Amtrak station is 10-15 away, halfway between campus and the Inner Harbor (or stadiums).

Everyone I have ever met from Kenyon was interesting (in the best way) and motivated. Congrats! I hope they have a great experience. REI gift cards for graduation?

Really?! Interesting. We thought maybe they didn't get enough ED applicants or international applicants, or they're competing with Oberlin who rolled out EA decisions last week

Can you believe it has already been 5 months since senior year started and they only have ~ 4 more months to go of senior year?

Business - 3.9 weighted - 1420 SAT

DD got several today - RPI, WPI and Rutgers. I hadn’t paid a lot of attention to WPI, but now I’m intrigued by what I’m reading. Definitely worth a visit.
