That decision was one of the first that really made me side-eye President Biden’s choices as executive in chief. With abortion, it’s a major MAGA hot-button issue that eight years of Obama staffers and officials couldn’t solve and would be (and, indeed, is) a central 2024 election issue for many voters. He handed it to her without a jointly announced framework, vision, or resources. It sounded like an unfunded mandate. He hung an albatross around her neck when he really needed to be building her up from day one as his successor (even if he thought that would be in 2028), and when he needed to be fighting for a 2024 victory from day one. It’s not a matter of “couldn’t even handle that.” She was set up to fail. |
Her record as a prosecutor. |
He is vengeful. Kamala is as much a victim as Trump . Kamala attacked Bidens character and said on the debate stage that she believed he was a racist and a sexual harasser of women -both accusations are political suicide for a Democrat candidate and Kamala knew that. She tried to kill Bidens momentum/political career and he killed her political career right back |
Trump, a victim? |
That has been repeatedly debunked. You are an unserious poster, peddling blatant disinformation. |
+1. In addition, anyone who said Biden appeared unhealthy and senile was accused of concern trolling and falling for cheap fakes . Anyone who said what was becoming painfully obvious about Bidens age and growing weakness was accused of being MAGA or a Russian troll. |
It’s not disinformation. The Biden WH is super vengeful and set Kamala up for failure with the border as a get back for her past disparagement of Biden . When NY Mayor Eric Adams criticized Biden, federal charges somehow were slapped upon the mayor . There are many examples of Bidens draconian DOJ when it comes to criticism . Trump is not the only one . Biden was always resentful about being low on the totem pole in the Dem Party and now he’s showing his teeth |
I’m not a Democrat or a Republican and generally detest politicians. Biden has never much impressed me and Kamala less so. Trump’s first term wasn’t great, but there is a decent chance he could do a lot of damage with a second term. Thus at this stage I’d prefer he not be elected. But I am so annoyed at this point by the appalling egotism of Biden and Kamala and the utter fecklessness of the Democratic party in finding a candidate that stands a decent chance of beating Trump that I will probably derive a bit of schadenfreude from a Trump victory. If anyone has seen a case of worse politics than we are seeing from the Democrats right now, please let us know. Where the hell is James Carville when you need him? |
Here's what I think the fundamental tension is:
- on the one hand, you have some Democrats who believe Joe Biden's debate performance amplified concerns about his age in a way that may dissuade people from voting for him. - on the other hand, the primaries are over, and Joe Biden is disinclined to step aside. This leaves the Democrats in a predicament: should Joe Biden be the nominee in the general election? |
Ready for Round 2: Why we Need Hillary more than ever
https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/4780301-hillary-clinton-2024/amp/ The strongest argument against replacing President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee is the notion that no suitable successor exists. But there is, and not just a good one but one of the most qualified people ever to run for the office: Hillary Rodham Clinton. Clinton is a ready-made replacement. She possesses an unparalleled resume and an unmatched depth of experience. She has consistently redefined the roles she has served, from secretary of State and U.S. senator to first lady and Children’s Defense Fund attorney. Her extensive background in domestic and international affairs is not just impressive; at a time when global politics are increasingly volatile and complex, her experience is priceless. Her continued advocacy for children’s rights and health care—a topic of ever-increasing importance post-pandemic—adds another layer of appeal. |

This is exactly right. Perfectly put. I might add that most Trump voters are well aware of his personal flaws, but those flaws are overshadowed by his unique ability to deflect all the personal attacks & focus on common-sense solutions (which are NOT extremist). |
If he resigns, Harris will be president immediately. If he steps aside from running in 2024 but remains president for the remainder of his term, Harris will never be chosen in an open convention. |
