Here is how to transfer to any high school in the area

For those angry that Chantilly could not humble the hawks, but rather lose 70-0, as a state ranked varsity team, this issue does highlight the level of unpreparedness of other coaches, players, and parents from other programs. Losing by 70 is more on them.

Chantilly humbled them alright.

The Fairfax County part of it is anyway.

Instead, they should bow down to the mighty Hayfield Hawks.

Both the Overtons and the Hayfield principal are complete trash.

Overton has been humble by not saying much about the false allegations. His team is doing their talking on the field and on the scoreboard.

I thought he wasn't allowed by fcps to comment?

No one's angry. No one including the CHS team expected CHS to beat a metro DC All Star team while the Hayfield players sit on the bench.

His assistant coaches (FCPS teachers) and weird posse of groupies and
nutjobs are trash talking their opponents.

Well, the 7-8 ineligible players best be doing their talking from the stands and the parking lot because they aren't allowed on the sidelines of games or at any practices

If this was a movie screenplay, the sheer number of transfers AND the OTT characters of the speaking in tongues acolyte creepo and the twitter trash talking coach/teachers would get the writers axed bc it would be so unbelievably absurd.

Maybe those 'Hayfield players' that sit on the bench can become managers.

If a white coach would have come and turned a football program around the way Overton has, every sports news outlet in the country would be praising the guy. This is crazy what’s happening to Hayfield.

He did not "turn around" Hayfield's football program.

He replaced Hayfield's football team with kids from out of county and out of state.

They’ve been investigated. If Hayfield were found to have violated the rules, any wins would be changed to losses, and any player living out of county or state would not be eligible to play.

I went to the Hayfield/Chantilly game on Friday because I wanted to see what all the noise was about. I wrote down the numbers of the kids that were playing for Hayfield and then looked to see where they played last year. Here is what I came up with:

Offense
they start 6 kids who went to Freedom last year - #'s 6 RB, 7 WR, 13 WR, 71, 51, 52 OL
QB # 5 - St. Johns
WR # 4 - Dematha
so 8 of the 11 players on offense did not go to Hayfield last year.

Defense
They start 4 kids who went to Freedom last year - #'s 6 FS, 7 SS, 3 LB, 52 DL
DE # 12 - Bishop Ireton
They also start 2 freshman #70 DL and #27 CB - who are PME kids who came over with the coaching staff
so 7 of the 12 kids who were playing on defense did not go to Hayfield last year.

I'm not arguing whether those kids transfered/moved in legally or not. I'm simply pointing out that he did not just "coach up" the kids at Hayfield. He did in fact, bring in a completely new team. Make of that what you would like.

As a side note - #6 for Hayfield is about as good a football player as I have seen in my time watching football in this area. I'm pretty sure Coach Overton would have had a great team if he just brought his nephew with him and added him to the existing roster. He is worth seeing if you get a chance.

Thank you for the actual facts/details.

That's 15 transfers playing *plus* 7-8 ineligible transfers still sitting out, plus who knows if therr are any Freedome kids who don't start.

Keep in mind that he charges kids to play on his private AAU team. The kids who pay him to play on that team are the same kids being "rewarded" with start time and positions at Hayfield (including the freshmen).
Pay to play...on a public school team.

These facts are incredible. Thank you for doing the observations. So now we have for certain minimum numbers. They had *at least* 22 kids transfer to play on the Varsity football team, 15 playing and at least 7 sitting out. And we don't know how many more are sitting on the bench or playing JV? Almost the entire Hayfield starting line up for offense and defense did not attend Hayfield last year!!!!

I have never in my life seen such batsh!t crazynes in FCPS sports. Wow. No wonder the Hayfield parents were appalled.

22 transfers for sure plus maybe more?

The breakdown on who played in the game was very helpful for understanding how this coach basically completely replaced the Hayfield players with his AAU team. Disgraceful.

Could the Hayfield coach groupie confirm exactly how many kids transferred specifically to play football? Since he did nothing wrong, you should have no problem stating the facts.

Chantilly has a very high South Asian population, which is I believe the majority demographic group. But yes, I’m not sure what that has to do with anything.

That's more South Riding Chantilly. Chantilly HS is pretty much even numbers of UMC white people and UMC Asians, with maybe 15-20% hispanic & black kids. A pretty civilized crowd at sporting events.
