Youngkin reduces teacher qualifications

Thoughts on this article. Youngkin reducing teacher requirements. So he wants unqualified people to teach our children after he drove away all the qualified, experienced and licensed teachers. Way to go everyone who didn't vote in the governor's election!

The Washington Post: Youngkin criticizes trans rules, eases path to becoming a teacher in Va..

It’s part of his plan to kill public schools.

Ah. Well this makes sense.

If he didn’t do that, there would be no teachers. And no, Youngkin didn’t drive any teachers away. Ask any of them that have left the profession. Not one would have Youngkin on their list of reasons.

This makes sense unless and until schools work harder to get rid of the bad (and often old and thus overpaid) teachers they already have.

Expanding the supply of teachers seems like a good idea. Let’s have more teachers assessed based on their performance in the classroom, and not on their taking education classes in college.

I guess it bothers people who see restricting supply as a means to increase wages and bonuses, or have convinced themselves teaching is a profession similar to law or medicine warranting strict licensing requirements. Most would probably draw a distinction between what should be required to teach social studies and what should be required to perform surgeries.

Distract the uneducated with the CRT bogeyman, then lower standards so you can pay teachers less. Looks like the plan is working beautifully.

Perhaps your “unqualified” teachers will actually be more successful teachers than your so-called qualified teachers, OP.

Your teaching degree has never been proven to be all that impressive if you look at student outcome of homeschooled students.

Why is that, OP?

Yes, he did drive teachers away. He told school districts that they couldn't set thier own safety measures in a pandemic to keep teachers safe, he set up an anonymous hotline for any person with beef to report them to him and that's just too start. Youngkin is all up in teachers business who wants to deal with that!

Hmm could it be a class size of one?

You know what I would like? If the Post fired Hannah Natanson and hired a real reporter who finds more than just two Republican sources for every single goddamn article she writes. It's pathetic that I know exactly who she will be quoting every time she writes an article - it's either Stacy Langton or Rory Cooper. FIND REAL REPUTABLE SOURCES and then maybe I'll read your articles. What a crock of shit, I'm so tired of her constant pandering to the right wing agenda.

Hardly. Is your teaching degree supposed to enable you to control a crowd in a confined space?

Are you asking if my teaching degree taught me classroom management?? Because…yes.

Precisely. Keep the people ignorant, keep them wasting their lives voting against their interests.

Youngkin is such an embarrassment but he’s exactly who the right wanted.
