I just listened to the words of Christina Perry’s ‘A Thousand Years’ song which I think is from a movie and not about babies. But give it a listen, wow! So powerful when thinking of my newborn:

You are the sunshine of my life.
Here comes the sun. This one hit me hard. We had a baby in the heart of the pandemic/social distancing and it felt like she was going to be our ray of sunshine so we themed her nursery Here Comes The Sun "Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter..." Isn't she lovely Forever Young- Rod Stewart |
Just had to google meaning. I knew it was a love song played in Twilight, but didn’t know the backstory. Christina Perri wrote the song after reading the Twilight books and it’s how she felt about Bella and Edward’s love affair. |
| It doesn’t perfectly correlate, but hearing Ed Sheerhan’s “Perfect” when pregnant reduced to me to tears every time. I didn’t know if I was having a girl or boy but the song became sweeter to me once my DD was born. |

At the end of my 3rd trimester with my 1st, I was so exhausted and anxious every night that I would just lay in my bed surfing YouTube and came across this live recording of This Is Me from The Greatest Showman. You can feel the energy in the room even though the video recording.

| Love that song! There is a lullaby version on Instagram that I paired with a IG video of my newborn and I almost cried, it’s such a sweet song |

This Woman’s Work In fact, watch “She’s Having A Baby” with Elizabeth McGovern, Kevin Bacon and Alec Baldwin. Hilarious and touching with a terrific soundtrack. |

"A Thousand Years" was the theme song for the 2018 International Down Syndrome Day. I sing it to my niece every time I see her.

“Garden Song” is lovely. I like the Maria Muldaur version.

Don’t worry, it’s partly hormonal. I remember absolutely weeping in the car to Baby Barnacle when my kid was about 3 months old.
It’s still a good song it just doesn’t make me cry any more. |
| “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding. Sooo sweet. I’ve been singing it to my girl since she was a newborn and it still makes me tear up every time! |
| I used to sing the Gilmore Girls theme song to my daughter every night when she was a baby/toddler (she's 5 now). Last week, DH was traveling, my. work was crazy, our 1yo is teething, the dog got skunked, and a banged my toe really hard and just sat down and started crying in the kitchen. My. 5yo put her arm around me and started singing it to me. OF course I cried harder, but man, being a mom is great despite all the chaos. |
