Friendly’s restaurants

I’m on vacation and we stopped at one. I haven’t been to one in years, so it was kind of nostalgic.

Now I’m trying to remember where the one was in Silver Spring or Rockville, I think, that closed in the early 2000s. Anyone remember?

There was one on Cherry Hill near the Target in Silver Spring.

I got food poisoning from the one in Rockville. Worst 12 hours of my life.

My mom used to take me to friendly's every Friday. We would have dinner with her friend and her friend's kid and then we would all go grocery shopping. I wanted to be a waitress at friendly's when I grew up.

OP here. Yes, that’s what I was thinking, but is there even the building from it anymore? I was remembering it for its extremely slow service, which is what we also dealt with last night. Yummy fribbles, though!

I never knew there were any in the DC area. Going to Friendly's with my grandmother used to be a big treat when I visited her in Pennsylvania. (This was in the '70s.)

Yes, the last one I knew of around here was in Burke.

Grew up in Montgomery County and went to one in Gaithersburg with my parents after every school award ceremony or band concert. Even as a senior!

There used to be one on Lee Highway in Arlington IIRC. I remember having a peanut butter sundae with Reese Pieces on top and it was ~heaven~!

and it was so horrible. Spouse and I ate there once and they served our food on dishes that were so dirty it was gross. The food was also so bad. We never ate anything but breakfast food there and how can anyone make breakfast food inedible? We gave it 2 tries and never went back.

Chilis is still around and there are few friendly still left around the region. A couple of chichis are still operational in Belgium. There are a couple original bennigans in OH and some new ones in TX, FL, IA also popular in Midddle East.
