| That little French bulldog pup that was stolen from it's owner in Brightwood was found dead in PG County. How sick do you have to be? What happened to the ring of puppy thieves they caught? Have they received serious sentences? These DC "jackings" of cars, of loved ones, are abominable. We need to stop tolerating theft in this city, whether it's a metro ride, an item from CVS, a dog, a car, someone physical boundaries (rape, assault). Violation is just normed here. Poor dog, poor owner. So so sorry that this was the outcome, hopefully the investigation and prosecution go somewhere. |
| You and I both know they won’t spend a day in jail. They are inner city honors students so they are immune from prosecution post George Floyd. |
Stealing and kling someone's dog = lowest of the low. I just fe like DC has turned an eye to theft for so long, it's normed. |
When you intertwine petty matters such as not paying fare for a metro ride or swiping a tube of toothpaste from a national chain drug store, you lessen the impact of your message. Why water down your own argument ? |
I would say murdering or crippling actual people is the lowest of the low! The terrible thing is that juveniles in DC can bash citizens' head with bricks and get released to kill or cripple again. I find I can't care about mere dogs when crimes against innocent people aren't prosecuted effectively. |
To me it's...you're walking your loved one, and someone takes them and kills them. for profit, and they even f that up. F them. Lowest of the low. And by the way, I have kids and pets. For me, they both need to be looked out for obviously. This crime is horrible. How can the victim EVER feel OK? Ever? |
DC has normalized crime. And then someone helps themself to your dog AND kills it because they are the same kind of ass-hat that unthinkingly jumps a turnstyle or helps themself to chips at CVS. Stupid is as stupid does, bit there is a sociopathy underlying it that the city is unwilling to address. People like you consider violation in degrees. Violation is violation. There are different penalties by degree, but currently people waltz around doing...whatever. Including dognapping and killing Horrible. We are 5 steps away from the express kidnappings of loved one in Mexico. And yes, I WILL move from the city and join the 'pearl clutchers. F this. I love my kids and dogs. |

What happened to the 2 girls who carjacked the car from the Uber driver and then killed him? Did they get the punishment?
Lets talk about the loss of human man life and punishment first. If one doesn’t respect human life, they would not care about other lives, including a pet dog. |
There's a statistical correlation connecting people who harm animals and go on to harm people. Might as well get these people while they're harming "just animals" before they move on to people. Here is just one of many citations discussing the connection, from a simple google search. ttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7246522/ |
Np I can't tell you how predictable and annoying people are like you pp. As soon as I read this I knew you would show up and say the bolded. No one is arguing that killing people is great. But did you really have to state that you don't care about "mere dogs" when you are reading a thread about people who care about dogs? How insensitive you are and very tone deaf. Just because we care about animals does not mean we do not care about people. Are we constantly going to up the tragedy? Oh gosh a mom was killed with three children! Sure that's bad but how about the lady with seven children was murdered. Surely you are a monster for suggesting that the second mom wasn't more tragic. Can we agree not to keep repeating the same troupe? Those who kill innocent animals are the lowest of the low. |
| Get a grip, dog enthusiast. No one is dismissing property or pet crimes, but the bigger picture is that our prosecutors don't even effectively protect us from murderers and mailers. Have some perspective here and stop with the false equivalencies. Talk about annoying. |

| You need to move. DC doesn’t care. The city even encourages criminal activity. Just move. |
+1 It amazes me that people are outraged about crime. THIS IS WHAT YOU VOTED FOR! You elected every one of the people that have brought this to you. All of them. You’re getting the city you deserve. Embrace it. |
Well, no. I always vote Republican or middle independent, but DC is set up so middle of the roaders (which is most DC Republicans) are disenfranchised. That's why I support Congressional oversight--at least there is occasionally a counterweight to our loony Council. |
