Prosecute DC Dog Thieves (and all thieves!) To the fullest extent of the law

That little French bulldog pup that was stolen from it's owner in Brightwood was found dead in PG County. How sick do you have to be? What happened to the ring of puppy thieves they caught? Have they received serious sentences? These DC "jackings" of cars, of loved ones, are abominable. We need to stop tolerating theft in this city, whether it's a metro ride, an item from CVS, a dog, a car, someone physical boundaries (rape, assault). Violation is just normed here. Poor dog, poor owner. So so sorry that this was the outcome, hopefully the investigation and prosecution go somewhere.

You and I both know they won’t spend a day in jail. They are inner city honors students so they are immune from prosecution post George Floyd.

When you intertwine petty matters such as not paying fare for a metro ride or swiping a tube of toothpaste from a national chain drug store, you lessen the impact of your message. Why water down your own argument ?

To me it's...you're walking your loved one, and someone takes them and kills them. for profit, and they even f that up. F them. Lowest of the low. And by the way, I have kids and pets. For me, they both need to be looked out for obviously. This crime is horrible. How can the victim EVER feel OK? Ever?

DC has normalized crime. And then someone helps themself to your dog AND kills it because they are the same kind of ass-hat that unthinkingly jumps a turnstyle or helps themself to chips at CVS. There are different penalties by degree, but currently people waltz around doing...whatever. Including dognapping and killing Horrible. Np I can't tell you how predictable and annoying people are like you pp. As soon as I read this I knew you would show up and say the bolded. No one is arguing that killing people is great. But did you really have to state that you don't care about "mere dogs" when you are reading a thread about people who care about dogs? How insensitive you are and very tone deaf. Just because we care about animals does not mean we do not care about people.

Well, no. I always vote Republican or middle independent, but DC is set up so middle of the roaders (which is most DC Republicans) are disenfranchised. That's why I support Congressional oversight--at least there is occasionally a counterweight to our loony Council.
