Need to watch blood sugar but don’t want to lose weight. Any good ideas for being on a soft food diet for 7-10 days?
Yesterday looked something like this: 3-4 soft scrambled eggs in butter High protein yogurt blended with part of a peach and nut milk, scoop of plant protein Brown rice cooked soft in chicken bone broth with vegetables, some stewed apple (for constipation) Canned low sodium lentil/veg soup blended with spinach. Poached cod in it. Spoon of choc ice cream mixed Wirth Greek yogurt, 1/4 banana Bowl of silken tofu in bone broth with sesame oil Would ground beef soup blend? I am nursing some dental work and am afraid of a chunk of something getting stuck in that area. Soft white fish and very soft scrambled egg have been good, but would like to add more calories and protein. Any tips would be so appreciated! |

After my oral surgery, my very supportive mom tried to blend ground beef, and it was a disaster. It was greasy, gritty, and utterly unpalatable. There may be a way to do it, but I don’t know the method.
Soups were good (my favorite was the tomato basil from La Madeline). Broths/miso soups are great. Seriously, I’d recommend toddler foods which tend to be soft, or even baby food purees. You might also look at nutritional and/or diet shakes like Ensure or Slim Fast, but they might have a lot of sugar. Refried beans would be soft, but beans have natural sugar, so I don’t know if that would be okay. Hummus might also be an option. If you can do soft fish, what about chicken/tuna salad? Good luck! |
| Do not blend ground beef!! Beans are great for protein and have a low GI index so not "sugary" like ice cream. Will also help with your bowels! |
If they are eating buttered noodles then they can have beans. |

| How about microwaved or boiled potatoes? Carbs will be less than 5-6% of DV. Add in some butter, or even mash with some chicken broth. |

Thanks for all the suggestions. Some things I've had lately and enjoyed:
dumped butter beans into bone broth and reduced - had with avocado and eggs for breakfast. This was good and my kid liked it too, this might go into regular rotation even when I'm off the soft foods. cottage cheese and a couple fresh peach slices - will eat this carefully so curds don't get stuck in my dental area! protein powder blended with high protein yogurt, spinach, and a few strawberries cooked cauliflower in bone broth and blended with cheddar cheese and butter Thinking I would pick up some smooth peanut butter for smoothies or topping yogurt, but was warned not to eat anything sticky for the next week. |

you could make a curry with coconut milk, veggies, thai curry paste and puree it into a thick soup.
red lentils also break down nicely; you could cook them in broth with some carrots and mash it all up. hummus is definitely a good idea. |
