Nats Park took bag, can we get it back?

Anonymous
Dad took teen to the Lady Gaga show. He misread the bag policy and thought her mini backpack would be ok. It wasn’t. Security took the bag. Any chance of getting it back?

No

How would security know whose bag belongs to who at the end of the night?

Why didn’t they just take it back to the car?

Ever heard of Metro?

They usually have the lockers you can pay to put them in.

Don't they have those lockers you can pay to use? I think that's what most people do when they have this issue.

I also know someone who got a clear plastic bag outside the park, put the contents of their bag in it, and then balled up their bag small and put it in the clear plastic bag as well. It's a dumb game.

But anyway, no, you are never seeing that again.

Another reason never to go to something like this without a car.

This is exactly why these rules are STUPID. So I can put a clutch that’s the size of a file folder INSIDE my clear tote bag. But I can’t bring just the clutch? DUMB.

Never seeing that again. Chalk this up to a life lesson for your daughter to always read the rules before going to a venue.

That bag is long gone. Sorry, OP.

Ok, follow up question:
Dad should replace the bag, right? He was the responsible adult. He advised that it was fine. He was wrong. Honest mistake. But he should replace it. Am I wrong?

And what does security do with those bags? Holiday gifts for their families? Sell? Trash?

Nationals Park Bag Policy

Visitors will be screened when entering the stadium, and backpacks are prohibited. The only backpacks you can have in Nationals Park are those purchased at the stadium on the day of the event. You are allowed to bring purses, drawstring bags, and soft-sided coolers under 16 x 16 x 8 inches. One clear, empty, or factory-sealed water bottle under 1 liter is also allowed per person.

Items that are prohibited inside the stadium include:

Bags exceeding 16 x 16 x 8 inches
Hard coolers or ice chests
Metal or glass containers
Camera lenses longer than 8 inches
Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks
Non-collapsible umbrellas
Inflatable items
Weapons or any item deemed inappropriate or dangerous

Yes, it's idiotic. It really feels like the Nats/Nats Park have total contempt for their customers these days. They are working very hard to make the experience simultaneously as expensive and unpleasant as possible.

Who wanted to go to the concert? If this was your daughters idea it’s her responsibility, if dad wanted to go then it’s his.
