Throwing Balls Across Pools

Anonymous
I don’t understand why people do this at public pools when there are a lot of people around. Do they not think that someone won’t get hit at some point? It seems so inconsiderate to me. If you throw footballs or other things across the water at public pools, please stop. It’s obnoxious.

Were we at the same pool today? I thought it was so weird and rude, but I watched for a while and they didnt seem to hit anyone.

The lifeguards should have stopped it immediately. That’s just ridiculous.

It’s a pretty common thing to do at a pool. That’s why a lot have basketball hoops on the side. Where are you located that you think people should be be throwing balls? I don’t like getting wet and barely go in. I’m a fussy mom. But throwing a water football across a pool is regular pool playing.

Yeah, our pool has two basketball hoops and I have never noticed it being a problem. Kids bring other random things to toss around too. We are at a neighborhood pool. Op are you talking about a neighborhood pool or a public pool?

Eh throwing a nerf football around the pool is our favorite activity. Just chill out and let people have some fun.

Yes, and they do at our pool.

22:35 back. I rarely go in, but if I do it’s only going to be to play basketball with the kids or throw around a nerf football with them or DH. How is this a problem? We aren’t near the lap swimmers. Why don’t you join?

Because it’s fun. You should try it. Maybe you could remove whatever is firmly lodged in your butt and toss it around when you’re at the pool next time.

It kind of depends at our pool. Lifeguards have some discretion based on how busy / full the pool is what what kind of ball is being used.

I saw kids trying to use a regular football once and the lifeguards shut that down immediately.

This is a normal activity at our pool club. However, when it gets too crowded, the manager will announce on the loudspeaker no more ball throwing. But that’s when it’s really crowded only.

I expect all the children at my pool to quietly tread water while my friends and I discuss our luncheon plans and how we are recovering from our latest medical procedures. How dare these children and their... FATHERS throw squishy balls. Bethesda is so uncivilized. We are moving to Potomac.

Lifeguards have the responsibility to prevent this. Lifeguards aren't doing their job or the pool doesn't have the right rules.

Yelled at a teenager once for trying to score a three-pointer into the basketball hoop and missing and nearly hitting my kid on the head. Stupid, stupid. Can’t believe they allow this crap.
