Sorry, I know this is TMI.
I recently cleaned up my diet a lot, and I’ve been incorporating more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains/beans. At every meal, half my plate is veggies or fruit, a quarter is whole grains SO it a ton of fiber. And I’m pooping like crazy. 3-4 times a day. I’m super happy that I’m losing weight quickly but I really, really, REALLY could do without all the bathroom trips. Does it get better? Will my body eventually adapt to the higher fiber? Or am I doomed to go through an entire roll of toilet paper every day? |
Give it a week |
Congratulations. Yes, your pooping should eventually reduce to twice a day.
- You will probably need to eat prebiotics and probiotics. Prebiotics - Inulin (start with 1/4 tsp in a glass of water once a day 30 minutes before lunch or dinner, go up to twice a day at lunch and dinner). Probiotics - home made plain yogurt, Keffir, Kambucha, Kimchi. Improve your gut biome and you will be able to digest the greens better without being triggered to go to bathroom all the time. - Get a toilet bidet sprayer installed to reduce the use of toilet paper. OMG - one whole roll daily is too much. - Also get a squatty potty to make sure you are completely eliminating the feces from your bowels when you go to poop necause your multiple poops could be because of inefficient elimination. - Use a poopourri spray to eliminate nasty smells from the bathroom. It is a spray that you use before you poop. ![]() ![]() |
That’s good! |
I'm jealous! My diet is super healthy and has been for years and I suffer with constipation. Pooping like this is good for you! Keep it up. Make sure you're hydrated. |
It will get better. But I agree with a PP: even though you are eating for a healthy gut microbiome, you might need a probiotic temporarily to get things in balance. |
Yeah. In my family half of us tend to diarrhea if we eat too much veggies, fruits and fiber, and half of us have chronic constipation no matter what we eat. It makes meal planning a little complicated! I love high-fiber foods, OP, but I can't have too much of them. My daughter is the same way. It's just the way it is, and frankly, as PP said, I'd rather have that problem than the opposite! |
Same here. So frustrating. Dr says I’m a “slow mover”. |
I eat really healthy and poop 2-3x/day. It’s just normal for me. I’m not using a whole roll of toilet paper a day though. |
