I've seen a couple of these now. Clubs trumpeting they are joining "MLS Next's new competition tier". Talk about marketing, no one wants to say its the second tier.

My club just had the same announcement. A bigger deal for us, perhaps, as we were (maybe still are, too) USYS.

Yes, a lot of clubs here at North area bragging about joining Tier 2 of MLS Next.

A club in my area is now doing MLS next competition and ECNL...2 different platforms. One for boys and one for girls

Since next season my club will be doing:

Academy 1 -> MLS Next Tier 2 = BY
Academy 2 -> ECLN-R = SY

What a nightmare for organizing age brackets! πŸ˜„

I would not be surprised to see ECNL concede boys sides to MLSN.

Well, this season still may be BY for both.

What if MLSN II goes to SY? They are allowing those kids to play high school

MLS Next 2 is a death knoll for ECNL boys

Why would MLS 1 or 2 do SY when it already has biobanding?

Yep, seems like MLSN has control of BY for boys. Other leagues can do SY but it won't matter.

US Soccer has been saying that they have been looking at other countries and trying to emulate their programs. The UK is based off of SY. I don't think that they will, but to act like it is out of the realm of possibility is naive imo.

This is phenomenally naΓ―ve. If all the feeder leagues up until U13 are SY, then RAE will impact the Q1/Q2 kids. Over time that hurts MLSN unless they have competitive teams at much younger ages playing BY.
