| Not even at major roads. There are panhandlers on mid county Highway abd shady grove road before the metro station exit. Used to only see them at 355/shady grove |
|
There’s always been lots of panhandling at intersections in Montgomery County. Craig Rice sponsored a bill to ban it back in 2018.
The worst ones are the kids with the buckets collecting for some animal welfare thing. I just know it’s a scam. Has to be. Otherwise you’ll see them at 355 and Shady Grove a lot. New Hampshire at Piney Branch. Connecticut at 495 off-ramp. Old Georgetown Rd at Democracy. And many, many other popular locations. |
| Yes everywhere and now in parking lots and drive throughs, they come right up to your window aggressively. One guy mocked us two days ago! Really getting crazy around here. |
some racing driver got murdered at a CA gas station I think by a panhandler |
| We have a lot more in Arlington, at Trader Joe’s, Lee Heights shopping center, along Glebe. Just random neighborhood spots |
| They must have a SignUp Genius for the intersections because there are never two of them on the same median and you rarely see the same person again. |
This is funny. Actually I think they need to get up early to claim the best spots. With that much determination, I really think some of them can go get legitimate jobs. There are enough “we are hiring” signs around. This whole thing is one of my biggest pet peeve. And drivers hold up traffic to give them money. The other day someone in an interior lane waved $5 out and the poor soul almost got hit. I am usually compassionate, but hate the anger and resentment I usually feel when I see them. I know They make pretty good money if you consider how many cars go by just during morning and afternoon rush hour at the busiest intersections , and the number of times the light changes. If 1% of people gave them $1 and all tax free. |
Not if they have criminal records or certain issues with their work history. |
It pays better than a legal job. And no taxes! They ain’t dumb. Stop giving them drug and alcohol cash. It’s truly evil, if you think about it. |
| Tons more. Able bodied team workers. I contacted my State delegate and there’s nothing to do. Protected free speech. |
Your delegate is dishonest. Lots of places have been forced to take action. Just like the street campers, it keeps getting worse if you do nothing. |
This. There have been a TON in Montgomery County. All over. Tax free income. |
So true! |
| There is a pair of guys who bring lawn chairs and sit at one of the major intersections in Tysons, loudly and rudely making fun of drivers who are sitting at red lights. They’re happy to take a handout from the inevitable suckers, though. Can’t understand why the police won’t disperse them. |
| Virginia has seen a huge increase when Yougkin came to power. |
