There was one fatal on the ICC this week. Another where I commute daily.
Today I was almost run off the road on 370/ICC near RIO by someone who wanted to race. He tailed then flashed his lights at me to move out of the left lane. I could not move much as there was a lot of traffic and a car to my right. He then passed me on the left shoulder and disappeared out of sight. Note, I was already 10MPH over the speed limit. He wanted to go 70-80 MPH. Does anyone know which police phone # to call when witnessing unsafe driving? Who would I speak with in the county to ask about a plan to crack down on unsafe driving. |

Don’t drive in the left lane. That lane is for passing.

I suppose you can call the non-emergency number, but there isn’t much the police can do. MCPD is short staffed. One district that should have 140 officers is down 40 right now. There also aren’t a lot of people applying to the academy, so this problem will get worse.
Officers also can’t pursue in Montgomery County, so somebody intent on speeding only has to continue driving. I guess my suggestion would be to reach out to Elrich and the County Council. Their policies contributed to this. |
| Does anyone know if any candidate for County Council/Executive has made a campaign promise to crack down on unsafe driving, more police presence on problem roads? |
Thank you. If anyone else has suggestions, please post |

How to say you are a MD driver without saying you are a MD driver.

What are you talking about?? |
+100 OP stop cruising in the left lane. You should have been paying attention to your mirrors and notice that someone faster was approaching, giving you opportunity to move over. I don't flash my lights at people, but you should have been aware of his presence before he had the opportunity to do so. Pay attention to your surroundings. Check your mirrors constantly. Slower traffic keep right. -NP |

People have been driving crazy in MoCo this week. There was the motorcyclist who rear ended the police car on the ICC near us.
Then, yesterday, I was driving down Bonifant near the ICC with a guy tailgating me for a while. Then multiple deer ran out in front of me and I had to brake suddenly...if I didn't need a brake job, and had not skidding for a while, the guy would have rear ended me and smashed in the whole back of my car. He should be grateful my car needs some work. He barely had an inch or so to spare. |
| I could not get over, there was tons of fast traffic and I was already 10MPH over any how. Why are people racing and what are we going to do about it is the question. I did not mention that there was a bright green race car 2 lanes over with the #77 painted on the front that he was trying to race. |
He did not want to race you OP, come on. Do you know what racing means? How was the left lane moving at 70mph, and the right lane was bumper to bumper? |
yeah so sure OP is at fault, and not the driver who tailgated at 80MPH and then passed her on the shoulder! GTFO. |
MD drivers still haven't figured out that the left lane is for passing. So in your case you were there so driver passed you on the shoulder (not safe but another MD driver) and came back I to left lane. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE LEFT LANE. Or the driver passed you on the left and couldn't get back into the left lane because there were other MD drivers making a turtle parade in the left lane. Just stay right. You can do it. Promise. |
Why were you in the left lane in the first place? |
The left lane is for driving at a safe rate of speed. It’s not a “passing lane.” |
