If you're waffling between these candidates, as I am, what's tipping you one way or the other?
I think Moore is charismatic and I love that climate change is one of his top 3 issues. I could see him someday running for national office. But I fear his weird biography issues are continuing to trip him up. I think Perez has great bona fides and has concrete plans for most Maryland issues, but will other Marylanders shy away from his labor background? |
| Are we the same person? Curious to see what people say. |
| Perez has proven himself incompetent at leading organizations. At Labor he botched the Overtime Rule to the extent that many think he may have done so intentionally. And of course at the DNC he quite famously botched the Iowa Caucuses and then tried to blame it on the IA state Democratic party. Please don’t vote for him, Maryland doesn’t need more incompetence. Thanks. |
That makes three of us, but so far no one has chimed in. I like both, but question Moore's lack of experience. |
I feel the same about Perez. I don't trust him as a leader. |
|
Moore has no legislative experience, which, of course, hasn't stopped many Rs from being elected, but concerns me.
I think Perez may be more electable in November, and after Hogan we can't count on a Democrat winning. I think it's great that we get to choose from a number of candidates (at least in Montgomery County) whose liberal/progressive positions I agree with, but it makes choosing harder. |
|
Thoughts:
On climate, Moore is more aggressive than Perez. But, Moore has flipped a bit on the 270 toll lanes issue. |
|
Eh no thank you on Perez -- I'm all full up on 2016 Dem politics.
I voted for Moore - we agree on substantive issues, and he seems like a fighter. Given the state of *gestures at everything* we're going to need a governor who will take risks and fight. |
| I'm voting for Franchot, he has the best chance to win in November. Don't get cute. |
uh wut |
I think they mean, don't nominate someone to Leftist. Nominate the safe choice to go against Schulz. |
By “more electable” I think you mean “not Black”. But Maryland voters have consistently rejected Perez type Democratic candidates foisted on them by the Democratic party. If a Montgomery County Democrat is going to win the governorship in Maryland (not sure when the last time that ever happened), I can guarantee that it won’t be a guy like Perez who’s probably never been to three-quarters of the state. |
What do you think about Moore? |
Wes Moore, like O’Malley before him, is backed by the old money Roland Park crowd. That gives him the institutional credibility to win that these other guys lack. |
No, I wasn't bringing race into this. I just think he's less to the left. Anyhow, he's Hispanic, so he's not a white male. I really wish woman had been in the race. Same with county executive. |
