I need to ease back into exercising after a 7 month break. I’m not comfortable going to the gym during this never ending pandemic. I’d like to find a HIIT workout that I can do from home with free weights etc., ideally I’d would like something I can watch and follow along with an instructor. BUT, I’m so overwhelmed with options. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I’m having trouble mentally getting back in the headspace to exercise but I know I need to and that I’ll feel better once I do. |
I really enjoy Les Mills, but they do have a fee. |
I like Maggie Binkley. Her videos are all available on Amazon Prime |
Thank you! I’ll look into both options. |
Fitness Blender. Free, good workouts, great filtering to find what you want. Love them. |
I know it's kind of MLM-y, but I really do like Beachbody. It's only about $170 for a year and you get access to a ton of programs, lots of them are HIIT. I really like the one called Muscle Burns Fat, I've gone through it multiple times over the last two years. You can join facebook groups if you want that aspect of community and motivation, but it's not necessary. There are usually sign up specials where you can try out their shakes and get some swag. It's been a lifesaver in getting me to work out from home since COVID started. |
Peloton strength! The app is free to try for 30 days. You can stream on your phone, iPad, fire stick, etc. |
^ no peloton machines needed. |
I like apple fitness plus HIIT workouts, plus there’s strength, core, yoga, Pilates, meditation/stretching, rowing, and treadmill workouts |
I do not know why people recommend the peloton app. It sucks. If you want to do any workouts longer than 20 minutes, you have to do warmups/cooldowns as part of each. And it costs!
There is so much on youtube! I am currently using: tiffxdan fitnesskaykay growingananas heather robertson nobadaddiction |
I like the one son popsugar fitness on YouTube. |
Well, the Peloton app/programming is popular because there are many different instructors, and usually someone and some kind of class for anyone. Moreover, warming up is key to a good workout and helps prevent injury. You may not like it, but it's responsible fitness. I like the Peloton app, too, OP - truly something for everyone. |
Les Mills is awesome. So much better than peloton strength. |
Like a PP mentioned above, there are lots of workouts for free on YouTube. I regularly do some of the ones already mentioned, like Heather Robertson and growingannanas. Some other suggestions are MadFit, HASfit, jessicasmithtv, and BodyFit by Amy. I don't bother with subscriptions, given the variety and amount of free workouts on YouTube. |
NP - I only follow Heather Robertson and think she’s top-notch. She and Bodyfit by Amy include warmups and cooldowns in virtually all of their hundreds of videos. Having to search for and upload 3 separate videos per workout wouldn’t work for me; neither is paying or supporting anything with a hint of MLM to it. |
