Why does MOCO tolerate Elrich

Anonymous
I don't see the appeal. The guy comes across as anti-business, is setting the county back with his policies and making it fall behind the likes of Fairfax, Howard and even PG in some metrics.

Hi Hans Riemer. How are you?

Have you seen the types that live in Silver Spring and Takoma Park?

They're over educated idiots. Education =/= intelligence. Takoma Park once tried to get people to install corn burning stoves in their homes for heating, because it was supposed to be 'better for then environment'. And you wonder why the granola eaters in Takoma tolerate a self-proclaimed socialist like Elrich?

SS isn't any better. Many in SS have never had a real job in their lives, because they work for the govt, a think tank, or some 'community activity' org that relies on govt grants to pay their salaries. Their solution is always more govt, more taxes, and more regulations that generate revenues for the state that'll pay their salaries.

Unfortunately for MoCo, TP and SS have the highest population that basically controls the vote. They're not very intelligent though.

1. My priorities are likely to be quite different from yours.

2. I’m pleased with the way the COVID crisis has been handled.

3. The alternatives who flood my Mail box with expensive promotional materials have, so far, not impressed me.

You can't be serious.

MoCo was an unmitigated disaster for COVID response. It took FOREVER to get a vaccine through MoCo because, surprise, surprise.....so much govt, so many hoops, so much red tape cause delays after delays. The vaccine tiers MoCo had were completely asinine.

You were far better off getting your vaccine from the state of MD many, many more weeks ahead of when MoCo would give it to you because Hogan did a much better job.

OP here...how do SS and TP control the vote? There's more people up county than down in those places. Have you seen Rockville, Potomac, Bethesda, Olney, etc.

I worked for Elrich last go round as a campaign volunteer. I also donated. I was wondering why none of the D candidates were addressing the spike in crime. Then I found someone who has been addressing it and is fiscally conservative too - Reardon Sullivan. I never thought I’d vote for an R again but he seems like a good choice - born and raised in MoCo; his Dad worked in the Carter Administration, he condemned Jan 6 as it was in progress, and he runs an engineering business. He’s Black too, whadya know?

I guarantee you did not ever volunteer for Elrich. I know all of the campaign volunteers and there were/are no people who would touch a Republican with a ten foot pole.

Lets hope Elrich stays in MoCo and doesn't get any ideas about running for Governor in 4 years. Yeesh.

1. People like Elrich because he’s a genuine person who doesn’t judge people. Sure he hates corporate profits, but he never judges people. There is a lot of judging in our politics and Elrich fights hard against that. Whether you are rich or poor, live in a house or apartment, Elrich is happy for you to live your life.

2. Elrich loves every part of this county. If you go around you will surprisingly see Elrich signs in every nook and cranny.
There’s signs in Takoma Park, Silver Spring, Aspen Hill, Chevy Chase, Edgemoor, Potomac, Gaithersburg, etc. He enjoys broad geographic support across the county because he supports every part of the county. He’s not trying to malign your neighborhood as evil “sprawl” or try to divest resources from your community. He wants every community to thrive.

While he’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, astute politicians should learn a lesson from Elrich in how to do politics.

I will be voting for Blair because I think breaking the TPSS stranglehold on county politics is critically important. And we need some fresh ideas for jobs growth and Riemer is just a clown.

Are you one of those people who just can’t believe other people actually vote Democrat and wouldn’t consider voting Republican under any circumstances?

Sorry. The worst kind of politicians are the Black Republicans. This I know.

The weird thing is that he’s actually had some success in terms of job growth and investment. So maybe your perception doesn’t match the reality?

I think that is one upside of Elrich, I think is the highest office he is looking to seek.
